Job Description Welder Training Program 1. Set up and operate weld equipment to MIG, TIG, or spot weld parts to blueprint specifications. 2. Load and unload parts onto weld table and fixtures using hand tools, ratchets, or air tools to secure parts to fixtures. 3. Check parts to quality specifications. 4. Troubleshoot problems and recommend or take corrective action. 5. Use hoist, pallet jacks or forklift to move parts, materials, containers and fixtures to and from storage areas. 6. Complete paperwork for work orders, labor, and time reporting, quality records and related reporting requirements. 7. Maintain a clean and safe work area. 8. Train others. 9. Perform other duties as necessary and appropriate for this position Required Education, Experience, & Skills • Must be an Augusta Technical College Trade School candidate. • Must have a High School Diploma or GED. • Should be able to set up the welder and have the ability to check welded parts. • Must pass Aluminum and Steel Weld Certification at the end of training program in order to retain employment with BAE Systems. Pay Information Full-Time Salary Range: $35654 - $57046 Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience. The Welder is responsible for performing welding needs in assigned areas of installation to support the welding requirements for mounting truck equipment safely and efficiently to specification following proper welding guidelines. Your Responsibilities • Use and read measuring, squaring and leveling instruments within 1/16". • Able to use hand and power tools which may include: welding clamps, vise grips, square, wire cutters, scrapers, hammers, impact guns etc. • Able to properly use and maintain MIG Welding equipment and oxy/acetylene and carbon arc cutting equipment. • Reads and understands drawing specifications, and instructions according to Standard Operating Procedure (SOP). • Efficiently and safely welds sub-assemblies, assemblies and welding needs to mount truck equipment. _____ Your Qualifications Education and/or Experience High school diploma or general education degree (GED), 2-3 years welding training/experience and a Mechanical background. Language Skills Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to update job-related documentation. Ability to effectively present information one-on-one to other employees of the organization. Mathematical Skills Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Reasoning Ability Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Physical Demands Employee is required to walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; balance; stoop; bend; kneel and climb. The employee must safely lift and move up to 60 pounds on a daily basis.
