Position: Welder - Athens, GA location Overview This position will use their skillset to weld metal tanks and/or components used in the production of transformers while considering the values and goals of Power Partners. Responsibilities Understand and carry out detailed written and verbal instructions with regards to welding various metal and/or fabricating components to assemble distribution transformers as specified by layout, blue print, diagram, work order, welding procedures, or oral instructions using various welding equipment. Must have prior training/experience and must ensure safe and proper start-up, operation, maintenance, and shut-down of equipment. Repeatedly lift/move material that is 50+ lbs. with or without assistance from lifting devices. Handle material and use hand/power tools as needed to perform required tasks. Ensure conformity of all welds and final products assembled to standards. Follow all safety policies and procedures. Qualifications • Communicate and understand written and verbal instructions. • Use iPad or other electronic communication devices. • Use of organizational skills and attention to detail is necessary. • Add, subtract, multiply, and divide in thousandths and up to 1/16th inch. • Demonstrate proper lifting techniques. • Grasp, reach, and handle objects, tools, and materials. • Use measuring devices such as tape measures, calipers, and micrometers. • Use hand/power tools such as grinders, air chisels, and box cutters. • Operate overhead hoists and lift assist equipment. • Must be able to lift/push 50+ lbs. and pull up to 110 lbs. • Frequent standing and walking is necessary. • Occasional sitting, stooping, reaching, or kneeling. • 20/40 vision is required with or without the use of corrective glasses and/or contact lenses, as well as normal peripheral vision no less than 70, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. • Must comply with all plant safety policies and procedures and any special department safety rules. • Must be able to wear all required PPE including, but not limited to: safety toed shoes, safety glasses, cut resistant gloves, weld hood, and hearing protection. #J-18808-Ljbffr

As a Welder-2 at Caterpillar, you will: • Operate robotic and manual MIG weld machines • Perform quality checks utilizing weld and attribute gages and other measuring tools • Perform in station repair on defective welds using grinders • Follow documented procedures standard work and routings to perform safe and defect free operations to create and machine components • Use lifting devices to move heavy components of more than 25 lbs.
