Welder/Fabricator

The Tradesmen Group LLC (TTG) seeks a multi-skilled person(s) for work with structural metals, copper sheet metal fabrication (coppersmiths) and carpentry/wood working with at least two years of experience with roof flashing fabrication, metal roofing fabrication, and architectural sheet metal fabrication, including copper and various metals, along with structural steel fabrication and fabrication for architectural wood working to work on projects in the region. What you will do: • Person must possess all competent skills, abilities and knowledge of the apprentice welder/metal fabricator in addition to the following abilities • Person is trained & experienced in the advanced use of welding and metal fabrication tools & equipment to include cold saw, horizontal bandsaw, plasma cutter, oxy acetylene torch for cutting or pre/post heat, shear, hole punch, drill press, magnetic drill, iron worker, metal lathe, mill head, and misc. finishing tools • Person possesses advanced knowledge of types of steel, stainless steel and aluminum as well as other metals such as copper, brass and bronze used in metal fabrications • Person is AWS certified or capable of passing prequalified welding procedures in all of the following welding processes GMAW, SMAW, FCAW in 1g-4G positions on mild steel. • Person is capable of independent layout, cut, fit up and assembly of metal goods from blueprints or engineered plans Essential job skills & criteria: • Use of various forms of metal cutting & shearing equipment • Use of metal presses and breaks • Use of drill press and metal punch equipment • Soldering, brazing, and welding (D1.1, D1.2, & D1.6) • Use of forklifts and overhead cranes  • Use of hand tools and & electric hand tools • Metal finishing • Painting and finish skills • Ability to follow blueprints/drawings to meet product specifications • Ability to develop & implement design of restoration when plans are not available • Ability to work independently when needed without direct supervision and remain on task • OSHA 10 training/certification is required prior to job start We are willing to train individuals interested and motivated by historic restoration. Job Description: • Would need to be able to detail a Pressure Vessel such as mapping out angles on a head and be able to fit pipe into the cut out holes on the head of a pressure vessel with only being handed a engineering drawing. • A very experienced welder with knowledge of welding on stainless steel & carbon steel with extreme precision. • Will be responsible for interpreting engineering drawings, fitting and welding metal components, operating welding equipment, and ensuring the quality and integrity of welds. • Will be Required to pass one or multiple ASME weld test once hired. • Performs all tasks to ASME standards and requirements. • Uses blueprints and design sketches to ensure the proper dimensions and tolerance levels, as well as correct components installed on the finished product • Assume responsibility and care of assigned tools and equipment • Welds metal parts on fixtures including attaching jigs and clamps to hold metal parts in proper position • TIG & MIG. Weld materials in flat, vertical, and overhead positions once ASME weld test is pass. • Cut materials using air arcs, burning rods, and acetylene/oxygen cutting torches to fit fabrication and job requirements. • Problem Solving. Must be able to problem solve and make independent decisions regarding weld draws while fabricating and addressing other issues. Required Skills: • High School Diploma or GED. • Minimum of 10 years of experience of welding on Carbon Steel & Stainless Steel. • Ability to work with precision instruments. • Good attention to detail and organizational skills.
