Welder/Fabricator

SUMMARY & DAY TO DAY JOB SPECIFIC RESPONSILIBITIES Welder will bind structural as well as non structural parts by means of welding according to drawings using predominantly MIG welding of steel. All welds are done according to written procedures and AISC guidelines. Regardless of training or experience; all welders must complete an in-house training program to certify the welder according to AWS (American Weld Society) standards. This will include passing a fillet test, a 3/8” test and a 1” test. JOB SKILLS REQUIRED At least three years structural steel experience preferred, but will consider other applicants. Will need to be certified according to AWS Standards. Must be proficient with a cutting torch Knowledge is required in the following areas: assembly; parts; welding; welding symbols; ability to read and understand welding drawings; quality control; knowledge of a variety of structural members (beams, channel, angle) and safety. Must be able to pass a test to operate an overhead crane. Effective verbal, written, and mathematical skills are required. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Must be able to walk and stand throughout an eight hour day. Must be able to consistently lift 80 lbs. or turn over a beam or column Must be able to repetitively use arms, hands, and fingers in the manipulation of parts and weld gun Must demonstrate good hand/eye coordination Must demonstrate good manual dexterity Must be able to read, evaluate, and respond to product specifications and drawings, and perform normal math calculations easily Must have strong general mechanical skills Must be able to pass drug and criminal background screenings EXPECTATIONS At Macuch Steel Products, we are in business to serve and meet the needs of our customers. Combo Welder & Fitter ($150 per day per diem for Travel Candidates) • *This is a Contract to hire position based out of Hollywood, South Carolina offering +10-15hrs of weekly OT** Pay is $25-$26 an hour Job Description Aerotek is currently seeking skilled structural welders with experience using flux core welding and fitting experience to work at a facility in Hollywood, SC. Welders will be responsible for joining, fabricating, and repairing metal and other weldable material utilizing blueprints, measuring instruments and other fabrication tools. Responsible for welding and fitting various large structural steel components for NAVSEA related equipment. Overtime available. Essential Skills • 3-5+ years experience in structural fitting and welding. • 3-5+ years experience in both flux core welding and pulse welding. • 3-5+ years experience in reading and interpreting structural blueprints and welding symbols. • Proficiency in converting fractions to decimals to 1/16th and/or 1/32nd from tape measures. • Experience in using tape measures, squares, and blueprint reading. • 3+ years experience in shipyards and other related fields fabricating and welding large steel components for NAVSEA related equipment. Shift/Compensation Additional Information Shift Schedule/Openings: 4-10 hour shifts M - TH. • Day Shift 6am-4:30pm (10 openings) - $25/hr • Night Shift 330pm-2am (10 openings) - $25/hr + $1 Shift Differential = $26/hr • Must be able to work Overtime on Friday and/or Sat.
