Experienced Solar Installer - Filled We are seeking a solar installer with DC and Data wiring experience to join our growing team. New Prairie Solar is the premier solar design and installation company in central Illinois. The successful applicant will participate in residential and commercial solar system installations. New Prairie supports solar employees with continuing education, OSHA and NABCEP certification programs. This is a full-time position based in Urbana, IL. Hourly rate based on experience. New Prairie Solar offers paid vacation, holidays, premium health/dental/vision insurance and retirement plan. Responsibilities: • Work closely with team lead and experienced installers to complete projects. • Maintain a safe jobsite at all times. • Run conduit and wiring for DC electric and data. • Install solar panels and components. • Create a clean, well-organized jobsite. Requirements: • Ability to work as a team player in a diverse work enviroment. • Strong communication skills. • Capacity to lift at least 50 lbs. • Capability to work on rooftops and climb ladders/scaffolding. • Ability to work outside in various weather conditions. • Ability to work in attics and crawlspaces. • Must have a valid driver's license, insurance and a high school diploma or equivalent GED. • Basic knowledge of home improvement and tool usage. Position Overview: We are looking for an Equity Eligible Person in the state of IL with a City of Urbana, IL Journeyman license or Electrical Contractor license, to work on a commercial solar contract job in Urbana, IL. This job is expected to be full time, last 4-6 weeks, and start around October 2024. Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to: The Journeyman electrician performs various tasks and assists other craft workers in the construction, maintenance, and repair of solar PV systems. - Responsible for the electrical work on the construction of DG solar PV systems - Perform electrical work associated with solar PV installation - Operate a variety of electrical testing equipment in locating and determining types of electrical malfunctions - Inspect plans, drawings, specifications, and work orders to determine work requirements and sequence of installations - Assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, and fixtures, using hand tools and power tools - Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components, using test equipment and hand tools to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem - Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other components - Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes - Provide and maintain personal hand tools - Work outdoors on solar installations year-round - Climb ladders, work in attics, crawl spaces, on sloped roofs, and similar locations - Follow OSHA safety regulations and provided safety training - Lift and carry tools, materials, and parts (up to 50lbs) - Provide on-the-job training to apprentice electricians - Verify all OSHA and safety policies and equipment are used correctly - Arrive punctually to work and diligently perform the duties and tasks assigned - Ensure quality of workmanship meets or exceeds minimum industry standard Required Qualifications: - City of Urbana, IL Journeyman license or Electrical Contractor license - Registered, or able to register, as an Equity Eligible Person - Detail oriented with the ability to multi-task. - Quality minded, ensuring that safety and productivity standards are met. - Ability to use common hand tools. - Valid Drivers License with clean driving record. - Solar experience helpful but not required.
