Summary / Objective The Sheetmetal Journeyman 3 is responsible for fabricating, assembling and installing a wide variety of Components on Navy ship repair and other marine and commercial equipment. These Sheetmetal Components include, but are not limited to, Ventilation Systems, Metal Joiner Bulkheads, and Framing Furniture, Cabinetry, Lockers, Ladders and Handrails, and Wet Spaces. As a Sheetmetal Worker, you will perform work governed by detailed technical work documents and procedural guidelines. Sheetmetal Journeyman 3 must possess trade specific tools. Essential Functions / Duties • Operates Sheetmetal fabrication and hand machinery and equipment • Operates shear equipment and press brakes • Perform precise fitting work in components • Running lines and leads • Advance blueprint reading • Train Sheetmetal Journeyman 2 on advance Sheetmetal processes • Must adhere to and promote all company safety policies. Wear all required PPE when in production areas and promote a clean and safe work environment • Assist leadman/foreman with check points • Accomplishes tasks in a quick and timely manner • Ensure that employees assigned with Firewatch duties are in place and ready prior to begin hot work • Fill out Job JSA forms Physical Demands The Sheetmetal Journeyman 3 must be able to meet and successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The following physical demands are representative to the position. The position is active and requires extensive standing, walking, sitting, bending, kneeling, stooping, crawling, climbing, and crouching. Along with such movements, employee is required to lift parts/machinery of up to 75 pounds.
