Construction Technician (Entry-Level)

What You'll Do: No experience necessary, paid training is provided, and we pay your certification fees! • **Starting pay of $20 per hour!*** ECS Limited is offering a unique opportunity for a talented Construction Materials Testing (CMT) Field Technician to join our York team and advance in a dynamic work environment. No prior experience is needed, as you'll work under the guidance of experienced professionals to learn to safely perform a variety of tasks. Responsibilities • Field Activities: Conduct observation, testing, and sampling of materials, including soils, aggregates, and concrete on construction materials testing project sites; Execute tasks based on project requirements under the guidance of senior technicians, staff professionals, and project managers. • Testing Procedures: Conduct routine field and/or laboratory tests for soils, aggregates, and concrete using various methodologies and testing equipment following industry standards and compliance. • Data Collection: Perform calculations and data reduction based on sampling, test results, and inspection; May assist with calculations, drafting, and other administrative duties as requested. • Communication: Maintain daily communication with site contractors, fellow technicians, and project managers; Communicate changing site conditions and additional requested testing to supervisor; Attend project meetings as requested; Assist with organization of field equipment and notify supervisor of broken or missing equipment as needed. • Training and Development: Receive training in ECS methodology for project observations, inspections, and testing; Document findings with precision in accordance with accepted engineering practices. What We're Looking For: Required Qualifications • No experience required. • High school diploma or GED. • Must be able to lift a minimum of 85 pounds. • Must have valid driver's license and insurance. • Willing to develop understanding of heavy construction safety, practices, and procedures. • Willing to obtain knowledge of CMT principles and applications, as well as ASTM laboratory standards, leading to certifications in soils, concrete, and radiation safety. • OSHA 10 certification may be required. • Strong communication skills (speaking, reading, and writing). • Ability to work effectively with contractors, peers, and supervisors. A Laborer is responsible for performing various tasks to aid daily operations at a construction site. Key Responsibilities • Being able to perform strenuous manual labor outdoors, in all normal temperature ranges and weather conditions (rain, sun, snow, wind, etc.) • Experienced with tool usage such as hammers, wrenches, shovels, pry bars chain saws etc. • Ability to traverse uneven terrain with varying elevation differences. • Work near and around heavy construction equipment as well as large material objects. • Work in enclosed spaces, cylindrical casing and excavation pits • Ability to read labels, safety warnings, and guidelines. • Attentive to detail and alert always to ensure safety • Able to receive and follow instructions and communicate with co-workers • Ability to work overtime, night shift and weekends as business conditions require • *Qualified candidates must have** • Prior experience in construction helpful but not required. • Prior welding experience is a plus.
