Project Engineer

Position Summary: The Project Engineer is responsible for ensuring all necessary permits from required local government agencies for construction projects are obtained and coordinating the pre-construction documents and meetings (PCT). The role also provides support in the preparation of project billings and development of certain project estimates. Essential Job Responsibilities: • Responsible for preparing permits and ensuring they are submitted to the designated agency on time and accurately. • Responsible for building and maintaining a professional working relationship with the employees from various permit issuing agencies. • Responsible for ensuring inspections are scheduled for corresponding jobs. • Responsible for communicating permit status to members of field management. • Assist Estimators with dig maps for new projects being bid or awarded. • Plan, prepare, upload and schedule all PCT meetings with applicable Hirschi personnel. • Assist in the preparation and submission of monthly project billings in accordance with contract terms and deadlines. • Track and document billing progress against project milestones and completed work. • Support the reconciliation of billing discrepancies and resolve issues in collaboration with the Project Accountant and Project Manager. • Assist in preparing cost-to-complete analyses by evaluating the remaining scope, forecasting future costs, and ensuring alignment with project budgets. • Support the Project Manager during monthly Work-in-Progress (WIP) reviews. • Perform additional tasks as assigned by the Project Manager Experience, Educational, and Additional Requirements: • Minimum of 1-years’ experience as a Project Engineer preferred. • Pass the company’s Driver Approval Process required • Proficient in Microsoft Office software required. • Must work well under pressure and deadlines. • Must have a likeable personality and ability to get along with customers. • Must have the ability to read plans and engineering (i.e. architectural, shop drawings, and structural, and civil plans, etc.) • Must have both excellent written and verbal communication skills. • Must be able to lift 50lb. • Pass mandatory drug test and background check test required. • Must be able to read and write in English and/or Spanish at a level sufficient to follow safety instructions, complete required documentation accurately, and communicate effectively with supervisors, coworkers, and customers.
