Primary Position Duties: • Plan and lay-out work. Ensure project specific needs are acquired prior to work starting. • White-line underground placement path. • Call in and coordinate utility locates. • Examine/inspect field conditions and identify problems and obstacles to production. • Inspect work for compliance with the contract plans and specifications, point out deficiencies. • Track and capture quantities completed on the project and review for accuracy. • Identify safety hazards and take all necessary corrective action to eliminate or minimize hazards. • Perform task planning to safely and efficiently carry out all aspects of that work assigned. • Monitor quality of work and assure that correct construction procedures are followed, and that work follows the plans and specifications. • Prepare and monitor the progress of the work accomplished relative to the production schedule. • Monitor productivity rates and review with crew. • Manage crews to ensure productivity requirements are maintained or exceeded. • Ensure that equipment is correctly operated and maintained. • Assist manager with confirmation of subcontractor and in-house production billing. • Perform other job specific duties as requested by manager. Direct reports • In-house underground crews Education or Skills: • High school diploma or its equivalent. • Experience and knowledge of all aspects of Underground/Utility CATV construction. • Combination of technical training and/or experience. • Basic or working knowledge of the NESC. • Ability to use general math skills to derive at results, calculate and review figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, schedules, etc. • Required minimum of 3-5 years supervisory experience in similar construction technology, methods, equipment, tools and work procedures. • Understanding of construction scheduling, cost control and ability to control and supervise groups essential. • Knowledge of outside plant safety procedures. • Ability to direct crews and communicate with teammates and customers. • Practical knowledge on Microsoft Office products to include: Word, Excel, Etc. • Strong organizational, written and verbal communication skills required. • Ability to think analytically and apply sound judgment, solve problems & make effective decisions. • Must be able to work nights and weekends, if necessary. • Must be able to work in all weather conditions. • Must have a valid driver's license. • Must be authorized to work in the United States. • Must be able to pass drug, background, DOT & MVR screenings.

Construction Inspector-Kingsville

Position Description • The Construction Inspector will be responsible for the successful execution of several fiber construction projects and the ongoing upkeep and repairs required to maintain and deliver reliable high-speed internet, all of this across multiple markets and with overlapping timelines. • The ideal candidate will have a strong background in OSP construction, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate effectively with contractors, engineers, and project managers. • The inspector will oversee placement of infrastructure like underground cables, aerial lines, and handholes, fiber placement and splicing ensuring all work adheres to project specifications, safety regulations, and industry standards by monitoring contractors during installation, identifying any deviations, and recommending adjustments to maintain quality and compliance throughout the construction process. • This individual should feel comfortable working in a fast-paced environment committed to ensuring that Lyte provides exceptional experience for both the communities we work in and the service we provide to a rapidly growing customer base. Duties And Responsibilities • Achieve Lyte Fibers annual construction goals for passings built on time and on budget. • Implement and enforce quality control measures to maintain the highest standards of network reliability and performance. • Conduct daily audits and inspections to verify compliance with Lyte Fibers policies, industry standards, and local regulations. • Visually inspect all aspects of OSP installation, including excavation, trenching, conduit placement, cable pulling, splicing, grounding, and restoration of disturbed areas. • Oversee third party construction crews for performance safety, quality, cleanup, and repair to ensure the construction activities represent Lyte Fiber in a professional manner and respect the communities we are building to serve. • Maintain detailed inspection reports, including photographs, measurements, and notes documenting the progress of work and any identified issues • Ability to identify issues in the field, analyze potential solutions, and recommend corrective actions. • Interact with residents and community organizations and leaders to address questions, concerns or damage repair through resolution and ensure there is a satisfactory resolution for all parties. • Ensure construction units are placed, and as-built documentation is properly collected and provided to OSP engineering for input into the fiber management system. • Complete weekly construction performance reports per contractor. • Maintain a construction vendor scorecard and meet quarterly, at minimum, with each construction vendor to review their performance. • Monitor construction sites to ensure adherence to Lyte Fibers safety protocols and best practices. • Ensure that safety protocols and best practices are consistently followed on all job sites. • Address and resolve any safety concerns or violations promptly and promote a culture of safety among team members and contractors. • Facilitate effective communication and collaboration to address project issues, provide updates, and ensure smooth project execution. • Identify and resolve construction-related issues or discrepancies in a timely manner. • Implement corrective action plans as needed to address any challenges or delays. • Be proactive and forward-looking to anticipate construction issues and ensure there is a strong pipeline of construction activity to absorb unforeseen delays without impacting the performance targets. • Oversee the evaluation of site conditions, including environmental factors and existing infrastructure, to ensure suitability for construction activities. • Prepare and submit regular progress reports, inspection summaries, and other documentation as required. Track project milestones and report any deviations from the p oject plan.
