Construction Worker

We are currently seeking a skilled Construction Worker to join our growing construction company. A strong work ethic, attention to detail, willingness to travel, and dependability are a must. Job Details • $22-$24 per hour depending on experience. • 50 or more hours per week (no weekend work). • Some projects require being out of town Monday-Friday (home on weekends). • Transportation provided from Kearney, NE when working out of town. • Paid travel time. • Hotel paid by company. • Nightly per diem for meals when working out of town. • Year-round employment (no winter layoffs). Requirements • Work manual labor outside in a variety of weather and environmental settings. • Assist the main pipe layer in laying push joint pipe including sanitary sewer, storm sewer and water main. • Shovel dirt and bedding during pipe laying operations. • Assist carpenters with the building of concrete structures. This includes setting forms, pouring concrete and tie rebar. • Run compaction equipment for backfill operations around pipe, manholes and concrete structures. • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds individually or as a team when carrying loads heavier than 50 pounds. • Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time. • Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl throughout each day. • Complete other manual labor tasks associated with projects. • Operate heavy equipment consistent with skill level and training. • Willingness to abide by all safety rules. Safety training will be provided on the job and via formal training. • Valid driver’s license preferred but not required. • Ability to pass a pre-employment (post-offer) drug screen. • Must be authorized to work in the US. Construction Foreman

Great Plains Communications is looking for an experienced Construction Foreman for our underground construction company located in Kearney, NE. This position will direct daily construction activities associated with the installation of diverse communication and utility infrastructure in the field. Will plan and execute work to meet project schedule in a safe and efficient manner. Will supervise and direct daily construction activities associated with the installation and replacement of communication or utility infrastructure Job duties include but are not limited to: Supervises, coordinates, plans, directs and delegates daily construction activities for employees. Meets or exceeds customer and company specifications for construction and provides an appropriate level of quality assurance and contract compliance for project. Establishes effective communications with customer representatives to aid with project coordination and help ensure customer expectations are met. Effectively communicates with the construction crew and supervisor and accomplishes tasks per instructions. Reads and interprets construction staking sheets, maps and drawings. Monitors and submits daily/weekly production measurements and ensures production is accurately recorded on customer drawings. Provides jobsite leadership and experience required to overcome problems and implement improvements. Ensures that property owners and One-Call have been notified prior to starting construction activities. Ensures that an adequate supply of materials and the appropriate equipment is available to perform daily and weekly work activities. Submits budget requests and assists with the planning and budgeting process for equipment and tools. Operates construction equipment per manufacturer’s recommendations or alternate instructions. Maintains, drives and operates cable plows, boring machines, trenchers, backhoes, skid loaders, tractors and trucks competently and efficiently. Instructs and coaches employees on the safe and efficient method to operate each piece of heavy equipment. Monitors progress. Lifts heavy loads (50 lbs.) frequently during a work shift. Digs with hand tools and climbs ladders on a daily basis. Maintains and effectively uses hand operated construction tools. Locates underground utilities safely both manually and electronically. Leads by example and provides basic guidance and jobsite enforcement of policies. Follows company policies and procedures as outlined in the GPUC Employee Handbook and Safety Manual. Reports to and leaves work according to policy. Maintains a keen awareness for unsafe or hazardous working conditions and reports them per policy. Provides input and recommends changes for improving worker safety. Wears personal protective equipment and provides general PPE guidance and instruction to all employees. Inspects and maintains DOT vehicles as required by policy or regulations. Ensures appropriate signs and barriers are erected to protect employees and the public on a daily basis. Prepares and/or reviews documents such as timesheets, expense reports, appraisals, personnel data forms, CDL driver’s daily log books and vehicle condition reports, etc. as required by policy with emphasis on quality and timeliness.
