We are currently looking for an energetic and knowledgeable individual to fill our Associate Construction Observer position in our Ellsworth, Cheney, Garden City, Hays, or Salina, Kansas Offices. Primary Function: Observes highway construction work in progress to ensure conformance with specifications. Examines workmanship of finished installations for conformity to standards. Maintains daily report of construction inspection activities. Prepares sketches of construction installations that deviate from plans and incorporates changes into master plans. Inspects equipment operation and material on the job site. Interprets specifications as related to materials and workmanship. Assumes responsibility of administering portions of the contract, which includes preparing change orders and pay requests. Completes materials testing including aggregate sieve analysis, properties of fresh concrete, and soil density. Receives moderate supervision from senior-level Construction Services staff/engineer. May be assigned to work independently on a project with some complex features. Qualifications/Skills: • 3-5 years of experience inspecting civil engineering projects including general bridge inspection and bridge construction inspection. • Inspections of KDOT projects and experience to become pre-qualified as a KDOT Routine Bridge Inspection Team Leader preferred • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record • Week-long overnight travel is frequent for this position. Summer General Helper, Gas (Construction), Hays

Job Summary (Overall Purpose of the Position) The purpose of this position is to support Midwest Energy, Inc. Gas division with ongoing maintenance of the gas system and comply with KCC regulations. This position will assist in the installation and repair of gas lines in coordination with the local gas district personnel. This position's primary focus will be in assisting in the backfill and cleanup of excavations. Job Duties - Responsibilities – Tasks • Assist gas district personnel with completion of projects while not performing any Operator Qualified tasks. • Assist in excavation as spotter/swamper as well as backfill and cleanup. • This position will also work as a general helper to the Operations Department when the weather is not conducive for outdoor work activities. • Promotes safe working habits and follows all safety rules and regulations of Midwest Energy, Inc. • Advises supervisor of accidents. Working Conditions The work involves considerable amounts of shoveling and raking, as well as standing, kneeling, bending and lifting. Should have dexterity and mental alertness. Alertness to changing work environment required as pipelines will be carrying natural gas which creates a potentially hazardous situation. There is continual exposure to weather which may be inclement and may encounter temperamental animals. Education and Experience • On the job training provided, no utility experience required. • Must have valid Kansas Driver’s license. • High school graduate or equivalent is required.
