ZTEX Construction is a heavy civil contractor specializing in earthwork, concrete, asphalt paving, underground utilities, and overall project management. We are locally owned, and we are always in search of talented Concrete Finishers looking to join a rewarding team and grow with the company. The ideal candidate will be knowledgeable in concrete finishing, concrete carpentry, construction of formwork and be a team player, positive and hardworking. Cement Masons and Concrete Finishers Smooth and finish surfaces of poured concrete, such as floors, walks, sidewalks, roads, or curbs using a variety of hand and power tools. Align forms for sidewalks, curbs, or gutters; patch voids; and use saws to cut expansion joints. Skilled cement finishing is performed according to accepted standards and practices. Duties and Responsibilities • Spread, level and smooth concrete using rake, shovel, hand or power equipment. • Smooth out concrete and ensure concrete pour is level. • Apply hardening and sealing compounds to cure the surface of concrete. • Check the forms that hold the concrete to see that they are properly constructed • Arrange and lay out concrete forms using wood or plastic forms, prepare job site for concrete pour. • Set the forms that hold concrete to the desired pitch and depth and align them. • Spread, level, and smooth concrete, using rake, shovel, hand or power trowel, hand or power screed, and float. • Monitor how the wind, heat, or cold affect the curing of the concrete throughout the entire process. • Mold expansion joints and edges, using edging tools, jointers, and straightedge. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities • Working knowledge of: Concrete tools, techniques, and practices. • Finish concrete surfaces, spread concrete and other aggregate mixtures. • Inspecting equipment, structures, or materials to ensure proper installation and identify the cause of errors or other problems or defects. • Performing physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling materials. • Minimum 2 years in working with Concrete in construction. Education, Training and Experience • High school diploma or equivalent. • 1 year experience minimum. • Must have knowledge of PPE and All Safety Regulations and Requirements Physical Requirements & Working Conditions • Performs strenuous physical activity, for long periods, under varying and adverse field conditions. • Must be able to lift and/or carry up to 75 lbs., stand, walk on uneven surfaces, manually manipulate, grasp, reach out and above shoulder, climb, kneel, bend, twist, and push/pull. • Work is performed outside in all types of environmental conditions, with temperatures ranging from mild/moderate to extreme cold/heat. Additional Qualifying Factors As a condition of employment, you will be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening and physical screening. If applicable to the contract, you may also be required to submit through a background check.
