Mason Journeyman

Summary/Objective We are looking for a flexible, results-driven team player with the ability to manage multiple tasks, produce quality work and consistently meet deadlines. Essential Functions • Level, smooth and shape surfaces of freshly poured concrete; • Finish concrete surfaces and rub concrete with abrasive stone to impart finish; • Remove rough or defective spots from concrete surfaces and patch holes with fresh concrete or epoxy compound; • Mold expansion joints and edges; • Sprinkle colored stone chips, powdered steel or coloring powder on concrete to produce prescribed finish; • Produce rough concrete surfaces; • Mix cement; • Direct sub grade work, mixing of concrete and setting of forms; and • Lift and carry materials weighing 50 to 100 pounds and occasionally more. Qualifications • Member in good standing with the local Union; • Completion of apprenticeship program or equivalent experience; • Ability to work out of town and varying hours as required, including: over-time, evenings or weekends; • Willingness to attend required continuing education classes and receive required training; and • Willingness to attend safety meetings, monthly breakfast meetings and quarterly employee meetings. • Ability to work rapidly and accurately with tools and equipment; • Follow set procedures and standards; • Compare and recognize differences in size, shape and form of lines, figures and objects; • Picture objects from drawings or diagrams; • Rate information using standards that can be measured or checked; • Calculate amounts of concrete required for each job; and • Work within precise limits or standards of accuracy. Work Environment While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at construction job sites. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. This position may be performed in outside weather conditions. Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required stand, walk, kneel, stoop, crouch, bend, crawl; use hands and arms fully to reach for, handle and manipulate tools, building materials, and other objects; coordinates the movements of eyes, hands and fingers; climb and maintain body balance on ladders and scaffolding; and access multiple levels of height and depth as well as access and work in confined spaces.
