What You Will Do Train, test and direct employees performing steel welding, plastic fusion construction and maintenance activities. Perform an advanced level of inspection work, assist and oversee employees engaged in the construction, maintenance and operation of a pipeline system and related facilities. Manage, inspect work performed by employees and contractors and assist employees in installation, maintenance and removal work on distribution pipelines to ensure compliance and identify noncompliance with company and government standards. Maintain crew truck. Load, unload and operate tools and equipment including: • Pipe and crescent wrenches • Pipe cutters and threads • Air compressors and generators • Plastic fusion irons • Jackhammers and concrete saws • Backhoes and trenchers • Combustible Gas Indicators - flame-ionization unit • Tap and plug equipment • No blow equipment • Forklift • Respirators • Oxygen analyzer • Ultrasound equipment • Electro fusion equipment/processor Perform routine maintenance on vehicles and equipment. Maintain logs; compile and prepare reports including: • Completion reports • Inspection logs • Train/testing records • Accident/first aid reports • Completed orders • Relocations and retirements • Leak reports • Mileage reports Review invoices for accuracy (pricing, quantity installed, materials used). Investigate customer related orders and emergency situations including: • Low pressure calls • Class 1 leaks • Blow lines • Fires/explosions • Undetectable lines Advise and inform customers, contractors, landowners, local authorities, and others relative to construction and maintenance work in progress. Regular and reliable attendance is required in performance of job. Employee may be asked to perform additional responsibilities as assigned. What You Will Need Class A CDL Required Experience in use, function and repair of tools and equipment applicable to position. Experience with application of basic arithmetic: addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Experience in construction and maintenance of transmission and distribution pipeline systems. Experience in basic use and function of computers and computer software. Experience with: • Work in excavations and confined spaces • Basic customer service activities • Customer service emergency procedures • Company and government operating/safety procedures • Plastic fusion • One Call System procedures • Work Management Systems Working knowledge of welding procedures. Knowledge of function and maintenance of regulators, chart meters, well meters, cathodic protection, and leakage survey. Experience interpreting maps, atlas pages, blueprints, GIS sketches, and job orders. Knowledge of personnel procedures. Read and write fluently in English. Applicable driver's license. Qualified Plastic Fusion Technician certification. Applicable Operator Qualifications. Lift or move objects weighing up to 20 pounds 10 15 times a day; up to 40 pounds 7 10 times a day; up to 50 pounds 10 12 times a day. Climb into and out of excavations and onto and off of equipment. Travel over uneven terrain including: • Mud • Gravel • Sand • Rocks • Ice • Snow React immediately to emergency situations to prevent injury to self and others. Detect and react to warning signals at work sites. Operate tools and equipment. Communicate and exchange information or instructions. Peripheral vision and accurate depth perception. Visual abilities to perform job responsibilities.
