CNC Machinist

SUMMARY Set up and operate CNC Machining Centers, Manual Mills, or Manual Lathes in order to produce precision parts in a timely manner. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES • Position and fasten work pieces. • Align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials onto machine. • Select the appropriate tools and materials to be used in preparation of machinery work. • Machine parts to specifications using machine tools such as CNC Mills, CNC Lathes, and Grinders. • Set up, adjust, and operate all of the basic machine tools and many specialized or advanced variation tools to perform precision machining operations. • Calculate dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics and instruments such as micrometers, depth micrometers, inside diameter gauges, and outside diameter gauges. • Read and understand gauging sheets. • Read and interpret blueprints to insure parts are being made according to specifications. • Listen to machine and tooling to ensure machine and tooling are running properly. • Operate hoist in order to load parts onto machining center, lathe, or mill. • Takes job down efficiently (Tooling, cleaning fixtures, putting gauges back, etc).

Responsibilities • Perform work under direct supervision. Handle basic issues and problems and refer more complex issues to higher-level staff. • Possess beginning to working knowledge of the finished product and all required features and quality standards. • Meet with the shift supervisor or lead to understand the priorities for the day and order of jobs. • During the 30-minute shift overlap, spend time with the prior shift operator to understand any machine specific issues. • Test and inspect machines to determine safe and efficient operation. • Perform routine machine calibrations based on the timing outlined by procedures or management instructions. • Perform machine setup and warmup if not already done by prior operator. • Read job tickets to determine proper materials and setup is used. • Pull necessary materials to load new jobs. • Load and unload materials and finished products based on machine guidelines to ensure no unnecessary stoppages. • Routinely clean the machine stations per the cleaning checklist. • Swap out other machines consumables based on quality feedback, lifespan schedule, or when parts are empty. • Check that items produced pass quality control tests at each designated stage. • Perform First Article Inspection of product to ensure that it passes all quality standards. • Perform hand inspection of product when quality needs to be controlled to eliminate defects escaping. • Notify maintenance and supervisor/lead of any machine maintenance issues immediately. • Notify supervisor/lead of any quality issues immediately and follow quality control procedures for containment. • Remove waste from the machines when bins are full. • Shred waste materials when all bins are full per security guidelines. • Follow all safety and security policies. • Take scheduled breaks as outlined in the policy. • Check emails for updates on policies and other notifications and to complete assigned tasks. • Follow all company established policies and procedures. • Attend shift, department, and company meetings where attendance is required. This includes routine training. • All other level appropriate duties as required. Qualifications • Must be a sole US citizen without dual citizenship. • Must be able to successfully pass various background screening requirements including criminal history, education, credit, and drug screen as well as obtain any required program specific credentials and certifications • Must be at least 18 years of age. • No experience is needed. The US base hourly range for this position is $18.00- 25.64/hour + benefits. Our hourly ranges are determined by role and level. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the compensation target for the role across all US locations. Individual pay is determined by job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
