Express is seeking a highly skilled and experienced CNC Machinist/Operator The ideal candidate will be proficient in CNC programming, setup, and operation of multi-axis machining centers (mills/lathes) to produce high-precision parts according to engineering blueprints. Key Responsibilities • Program and set up CNC machines (e.g., mills, lathes) from scratch or by modifying existing programs, including calculating requirements, tool registers, and offsets. • Read, interpret, and work from complex engineering blueprints, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), and other technical specifications. • Select and install appropriate cutting tools, holders, and attachments. • Load raw materials and conduct first-run part inspections to verify accuracy against specifications using precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, gauges). • Monitor machine operations, adjust controls, and troubleshoot any malfunctions or deviations during the production run. • Perform routine and preventative machine maintenance to ensure optimal performance. • Maintain accurate production and quality logs and adhere to all company safety protocols and quality standards. • Collaborate with engineering and quality control teams on process improvements and part validation. Qualifications and Skills • 2 years of hands-on experience as a CNC Operator or Machinist in a production environment. • Expert-level knowledge of G-code and M-code programming. • Proficiency with CAD/CAM software is a strong plus. • Demonstrated ability to perform complex setups, including multi-fixture and tombstone setups. • Strong understanding of material properties, cutting speeds, and feed rates. • Exceptional mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills. • High school diploma or GED; vocational certificate or associate degree in machining or a related technical field is preferred. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES • Position and fasten work pieces. • Align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials onto machine. • Select the appropriate tools and materials to be used in preparation of machinery work. • Machine parts to specifications using machine tools such as CNC Mills, CNC Lathes, and Grinders. • Set up, adjust, and operate all of the basic machine tools and many specialized or advanced variation tools to perform precision machining operations. • Calculate dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics and instruments such as micrometers, depth micrometers, inside diameter gauges, and outside diameter gauges. • Read and understand gauging sheets. • Read and interpret blueprints to insure parts are being made according to specifications. • Listen to machine and tooling to ensure machine and tooling are running properly. • Operate hoist in order to load parts onto machining center, lathe, or mill. • Takes job down efficiently (Tooling, cleaning fixtures, putting gauges back, etc). OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES • Actively participate in the 5S program, which is to Sort, Set In Order, Shine, Standardize, and Sustain in order to maintain a highly productive work environment. • Assist with keeping the department and machinery clean • Other duties as assigned.
