POSITION OVERVIEW: The CNC Machinist II will be responsible for operating CNC (Computer Numerically Controlled) Machinery safely and accurately to perform a variety of operations to produce various metal parts from common and exotic metals. The CNC Machinist II assembles, repairs and fabricates parts and components on mills and lathes. The CNC Machinist II would be responsible for loading and unloading metal parts, changing tooling, programming the CNC machine, and adjusting the machine settings for the needed specifications. The CNC Machinist II reads and interprets blueprints and design sketches to determine the precise specifications, dimensions and tolerance levels of finished product. The CNC Machinist II will ensure safety, quality, and schedule requirements are met daily. The CNC Machinist will report to the CNC Machinist Lead. CNC Machinist General Responsibilities • Advanced skills in reading and interpreting work orders and blueprints using metric and standard measurements to machine parts accurately within tight tolerances per customer specs. • Perform inspection of equipment, materials and products. • Prepare and load raw materials and parts onto the machines. • Input the part specifications to program the machines to run parts. • Monitor the machines while they execute the tasks and makes any necessary adjustments to programs and run times. • Choose, change, and load the correct cutting tools for the job which include tool length pre-sets and Renishaw probes. • Learn how to create CAD/CAM files or G&M codes. • Utilizes precision measuring tools to inspect and measure products and compare them with requirements to determine if the process has been completed properly and meets quality standards. • Documents actions by completing production logs. • Checks, cleans, and maintains machinery daily to ensure functionality. • Capable of setting up mills and lathes by installing fixtures, attachments, and tools necessary to complete jobs according to specifications is a plus. • Capable of troubleshooting processes, adjusting and reprogramming controls, changing inserts and replacing worn tools is a plus. • Collaborate with engineers, project managers and other team members. Requirements • High school diploma or equivalent • Ability to speak and read English fluently, and have good written and verbal communication • 3-5 years of experience working with CNC Machines • Previous experience with lathes, mills, press breaks, plasma machines, small hand tools. • Working knowledge of conventional, CNC, and advanced manufacturing techniques. • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities are a plus • Learns and applies the latest relevant knowledge to the work • Strong analytical, mathematical and computer skills. • Possesses ethical behavior, attention to detail, self-motivation, precision, and enforces quality standards • Ability to lift 50 pounds regularly • Ability to stand for long periods of time, squat, kneel, and crawl. • Ability to work overtime, and after-hours when required. You’ll coordinate work activities with customers, local utilities, and government agencies, providing installation, repairs, maintenance as well as reconnection of fiber and copper services all while following safety practices and delivering the highest levels of service. What you’ll do: • Locates buried facilities near the route of "B" service wire using appropriate equipment. Operate a company vehicle with trailer and machinery. • Locate buried facilities near the route of buried wire using appropriate equipment. • Manual excavation utilizing a shovel. • Provide repairs to low voltage buried utilities or sprinkler systems.
