POSITION SUMMARY The Machinist is responsible for the day-to-day production of Pulpmill Services’ specialty machining business. Responsibilities - The position requires the employee to perform a wide variety of duties including, but not limited to the following key functions: Essential Functions • Setup, operate and maintain large, medium and small lathes, mills, drill presses and other related machine shop equipment. • Operate CNC machining including mills, drills, and lathes. • Operate manual lathes, drill presses, and mills for small to large equipment. • Create small programs on the machine via VPS system. • Understand programming. • Ensure machines are running and maintained properly prior to use. • Machine various products according to drawing details and special job instructions. • Read tape measure, micrometers, calipers and scales. • Can use and operate rigging, overhead crane and forklift. • Perform all duties in a safe and efficient manner. • Willing to learn and perform other tasks and duties as needed. Competencies • Ability to provide accurate information to co-workers by telephone, in written form, e-mail and/or in person. • Ability to communicate technical information clearly in written form or verbally so that instructions can be followed with minimal chance of error. • Ability to troubleshoot equipment malfunctions. • Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality, etc. • Ability to prioritize and make changes as needed. • Possess good communication and people skills. • Display good attitude conducive to a shop environment. • Be able to think quickly and critically in response to scope changes on small to large equipment. • Ability to recognize when a sense of urgency is needed. • Ability to work independently and as a team member with other personnel. Supervisory responsibilities None Work environment Machine Shop Physical demands Ability to perform physical activities that require considerable use of arms and legs and moving your whole body such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping and handling materials Travel required None Required education and experience • Experience in a metal job shop. • Experience reading blueprints. Preferred education and experience • Prefer 4+ years of machining experience. • Prefer 2+ years of CNC programming. Additional eligibility requirements • Valid Driver’s License or State Issued ID. • Able to pass a drug screen and background check.
