Machinist

As a Machinist, you will be responsible for the setup, operation, and maintenance of machining equipment to produce precision valve components. You will work closely with the production team to meet deadlines, ensure high-quality standards, and maintain a safe and efficient work environment. This position requires strong attention to detail, technical skills, and a commitment to continuous improvement. Key Responsibilities: • Setup and operate various machine tools, including lathes, milling machines, grinders, and CNC machines, to fabricate parts according to engineering drawings and specifications. • Inspect and measure finished products to ensure compliance with tight tolerances and quality standards using precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, etc.). • Perform routine maintenance on machines to ensure optimal performance and troubleshoot issues as needed. • Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and job orders to determine machining requirements. • Collaborate with engineering and quality control teams to optimize production processes and ensure the highest level of product quality. • Program CNC machines (if applicable) using G-code or CAD/CAM software to produce complex valve components. • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment by following all safety procedures and regulations. • Monitor and adjust production processes to maintain efficiency and product accuracy. • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by providing feedback on process improvements or equipment upgrades. • Document and report production data, including downtime, material usage, and quality issues. Qualifications: • High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training in machining or a related field preferred. • Proven experience as a machinist, preferably in the valve manufacturing industry or similar precision engineering environment. • Strong knowledge of machining techniques, tools, materials, and processes. • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints. • Experience with CNC machine setup, operation, and programming is highly desirable. • Proficient in the use of precision measuring instruments. • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team. • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work. • Strong problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude. • Ability to lift heavy materials and stand for extended periods of time. • Commitment to safety and adherence to company safety protocols.

In this role, you will operate mechanical or CNC equipment, including milling machines and lathes, to produce metal parts. Arcosa’s Inland Barge Group is comprised of Arcosa Marine Products, Inc., a leading manufacturer of barges used to transport cargo on U.S. inland waterways. Arcosa Marine Products manufactures dry cargo barges, including flat-deck and hopper barges, that are used to transport a variety of products including grain, coal, and aggregates. Arcosa Marine Products also manufactures tank barges that carry petroleum, fertilizer, ethanol, chemicals, and other liquid cargoes. It is the largest U.S. manufacturer of fiberglass hopper barge covers used primarily on grain barges. Additionally, Arcosa Marine Products provides a full line of deck hardware to the marine industry, including hatches, castings, and winches for towboats and dock facilities.
