What you’ll be doing? • Able to receive and retain advanced CNC operation, setup, and program adjustments training to assist the mills and lathe team in producing consistent parts to spec and on schedule. • Create tooling offsets and adjustments to the manufacturer to consistently close tolerances. • Set tools, calibrate, and operate CNC machines and lathes for various operations including turning, drilling, boring, threading, tapping, and milling. • Interpret blueprints/engineering drawings. • Ability to recognize and correct malfunctions. • Work in a team atmosphere to assist/instruct coworkers with machining techniques. CNC Machining – Set up and operate 3-axis CNC vertical milling centers to complete a wide range of tight-tolerance machining operations. Manual Lathe Operation – Operate manual engine lathes to turn, face, bore, and groove small to medium-sized parts, including large diameter components (24″–50″) using steady rests or tailstocks as needed. Precision Inspection – Inspect all machined parts using precision measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, indicators, etc.) and verify compliance with print specifications. Tooling & Programming – Install and adjust tools, make offset changes, calculate speeds/feeds based on material, and edit programs as needed. Blueprint Review – Recognize and report errors in prints or operation sheets prior to machining. Clean & Maintain – Keep machines clean and lubricated; follow all 5S procedures and documentation. Team Collaboration – Work closely with supervisors, engineers, and other machinists to meet project timelines and quality goals.
