Position Responsibilities • Operating the Stamping Press: Operating the machine to shape materials according to work orders and specifications. • Setting up the Press: Preparing the machine for production runs by loading materials, adjusting dies, and setting parameters. • Quality Control: Performing checks during and after production to ensure parts meet quality standards. • Material Handling: Loading and unloading materials, potentially including heavy items. • Troubleshooting: Identifying and reporting machine malfunctions or issues. • Maintaining Clean Workspace: Keeping the work area clean and organized to ensure safety and efficiency. • Following Safety Procedures: Adhering to all safety protocols, including wearing appropriate PPE. Essential Skills and Qualifications: • Mechanical Aptitude: Understanding of how machinery works and the ability to troubleshoot problems. • Problem-solving Skills: Ability to quickly identify and resolve issues that may arise during production. • Attention to Detail: Ensuring accuracy and precision in all aspects of the job, particularly in quality control. • Communication Skills: Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors and other team members. • Physical Stamina: Ability to lift and move materials (up to 50 pounds), and stand for extended periods. • Safety Awareness: Understanding and adhering to all safety procedures. • High School Diploma or Equivalent: A basic educational foundation is often required. • Relevant Experience: Previous experience operating stamping presses or related machinery is often preferred. Tool & Die Maker

We supply a broad range of component parts and complete assemblies to a number of industries. Germantown Tool is looking for a Tool Maker. This position will be responsible for working with computer-controlled machinery and mechanical equipment to cut, shape, and finish tools made out of metal. BASIC FUNCTION: Design, build, and inspect jigs, fixtures, and dies in accordance with Product Engineering and Manufacturing Engineering requirements by performing the following duties. SPECIFIC & ESSENTIAL DUTIES: • Inspect parts made in fabrication or welding that are produced off of new tooling to determine conformity to specification. • Evaluate and critique part print specifications to ensure manufacturability of desired part. • Inspect tools, jigs, fixtures and gauging devices for proper orientation and processing. • Examine and inspect all types of parts, subassemblies, assemblies and finished products for dimensional, fit and function or evaluation of defects as assigned by supervisor. • Layout, plan and perform all bench and machine operations to construct, alter and repair tools, dies, fixtures, jigs and gages requiring skill and knowledge of tooling practices and application. • Perform close and exacting bench operations to fit, assemble, adjust, align, and finish work. • Design, fabricate and repair a wide variety of material handling equipment. • Studies specifications, eng. blueprints, tool orders, and shop data and confers with engineering and shop personnel to resolve design problems related to material characteristics, dimensional tolerances, service requirements, mfg procedures, and cost in assembly. • Train operators on the use of fixtures, inspection equipment, and procedures. • Assist in the design of assembly lines and work stations. • Assist in the design of prototype parts for manufacturability • Order all tool room inventory, clamps, drills, material, and fasteners etc. • Perform other related duties as deemed necessary by the Supervisor. • Assist in the installation and removal of Assembly lines (boom cranes, roller tables, scissor lifts, and gantry hoist systems etc.) EDUCATION/TRAINING REQUIREMENTS: • High school diploma with basic mathematical skills required • Requires the use of fairly complicated drawings, mathematics, handbook formulas, and variety of precision measuring instruments. • Experience in blueprint reading and CAD • Programming experience for machine tools and EDM required, Laser programming preferred • 5-10 years experience in metal fabrication or machining required • Must be mechanically minded with a strong desire to learn and to accept new challenges PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls and reach with hands and arms. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
