Manual Machinist

FLANDERS is looking for a Manual Machinist to join the team in Longview, TX. The Manual Machinist role is responsible to perform basic lathe/milling operations by utilizing medium size machines including manual lathes/mills and inspect basic/routine parts for defects and wear. Please note: This position requires vocation skills and is not a machine operator or CNC Machinist. Here's What You'll Do: • Perform milling operations such as drilling, tapping, boring, broaching, and conventional milling and lathe work using various engine lathes including but not limited to horizontal and vertical mills and horizontal boring mills. • Use measuring devices and techniques to ensure proper sizing. • Record data to produce expected service and/or design results including sizing and illustrations. • Understand materials and their various applications in order to complete job. • Use various hand-held and stationary power and non-power tools including but not limited to band saws, belt sanders, hand grinders, and files to complete job. • Lift, tighten, adjust and/or secure heavy objects in order to perform work and observe safety precautions. Machine Operator I

Job Summary: Set-up, operate, and maintain one or multiple manufacturing equipment machinery. Ensure machines produce high quality products, run smoothly and are properly maintained. Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities: • Verifies functionality of safety features prior to machine operation. • Sets up and performs minor calibrations of machinery. • Performs first article inspections. • Operates machinery in a consistently safe manner adjusting as needed. • Moves and feeds raw material or parts to semi-automated machines. • Removes or shifts material and/or finished products to facilitate proper flow. • Performs inspection of machinery to ensure efficient operation and production. • Troubleshoots and fixes issues that arise during shift and reports problems to leadership. • Maintains activity logs and keeps daily records of down time and machine operations. • Cleans equipment before, during and after shift. • Maintains a clean work area utilizing good housekeeping practices. • Adheres to health and safety regulations and wears required PPE. Education and Experience Requirements: One to three months of relevant experience in a manufacturing setting. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: • Ability to follow written or verbal instructions. • Working knowledge of diverse machinery and measurement tools. • Understanding of production procedures. • Ability to read tape measure, blueprints, schematics and manuals. • Strong analytical skills and ability to perform basic mathematical calculations. • Strong attention to detail. • Ability to work in a team environment and communicate with others. Work Environment: • Ability to lift and move objects up to 50lbs. • Ability to stand, bend, and perform repetitive tasks for extended periods during shift. • Required to wear proper personal protective equipment. • Ability to work in manufacturing facilities and regularly be exposed to varying and extreme temperatures, loud noises, dust, chemical fumes, sharp metal objects and heavy forklift traffic. • This position is designated as a safety-sensitive job and therefore subject to drug and alcohol testing, including random testing.
