CNC Machinist - 2nd Shift - Now Hiring

Key Activities/Responsibilities • Review work order, position work piece and operate various machines through production runs to form specified quantities to defined tolerances. • Analyze and interpret blueprint, specifications or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work pieces. • Plan machine set ups, position work piece and operate various machines through production runs to form specified quantities of piece parts to specified tolerances. • Deburr parts as needed. • Monitor machine functions to ensure that parts are manufactured to defined specifications • Perform first piece inspections and make necessary adjustment to machine to ensure parts are formed to designated tolerances. • Complete inspection reports as required and repair any defects found and document critical quality information as necessary • Perform preventative maintenance and ensure machines are operating optimally. • Communicate with managers, production control, quality and other shop personnel for assignments and to resolve quality issues. • Act as subject matter expert and train co-workers as requested • Document outstanding issues either written or verbally to ensure smooth transition between shift • Cross train in other areas of Operations (assembly, shipping and receiving). The Montana Department of Transportation is recruiting a Machinist/Mechanic in Billings. This position performs a variety of work associated with the repair and maintenance of gasoline and diesel machinery and equipment, fabrication of specialized parts, system design and manufacture, and troubleshooting.
