Private company seeking Certified HVAC Technician for a fast paced position with significant opportunity for growth. Candidates must have a clean 3-year motor vehicle record. There is no interaction with traditional customers for this job. Most work is performed M-F during business hours, however, emergency work is required as needed. Summary As an HVAC Techician, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing HVAC systems in various settings, in commercial and industrial environments. Your core skills in using hand tools, voltmeters, and understanding the National Electrical Code (NEC) will be essential for ensuring compliance and safety. Your relevant skills in HVAC systems and construction site operations will further enhance our team's capabilities in delivering high-quality solutions. This position reports to the project manager and includes activities as assigned. Responsibilities • Install, maintain, and repair HVAC systems in compliance with all standards. • Utilize hand tools, voltmeters, and ohmmeters to troubleshoot electrical issues. • Read and interpret blueprints and schematics for installations. • Collaborate with construction teams on renovation projects, ensuring safety and efficiency. • Provide guidance to junior electricians and assist in training as needed. • Ensure all work meets high-quality standards and adheres to safety regulations. In this role, you will provide critical support for the operational maintenance and sanitation of campus buildings, ensuring a safe, functional, clean, efficient, and attractive living and learning environment. Key responsibilities include troubleshooting issues, providing service, and responding to customer and staff requests. This role also requires readiness to address emergencies and unforeseen situations. Assignments may rotate based on departmental needs to support cross-training and operational goals. The ideal candidate has intermediate-level expertise in HVAC and refrigeration systems, including but not limited to water source heat pumps, direct expansion systems, and electrical and plumbing systems. You will ensure all components comply with national and state codes, perform preventative maintenance, and repair HVAC systems. On-call responsibilities may be assigned by the supervisor. Responsibilities: • Perform preventative and predictive maintenance on HVAC systems through planned and scheduled work orders. • Address corrective repairs promptly to restore functionality. • Calibrate controls to maintain design temperature and humidity. • Check refrigerant charges and pressures, ensuring compliance with EPA Section 608. • Conduct repairs on various HVAC components, including air systems, compressors, controls, and more. • Assist in project planning for asset maintenance. • Update and maintain data in the Integrated Work Management System (IWMS). • Fulfill work requests assigned through IWMS. Minimum Qualifications: Completion of an approved apprenticeship program in heating, ventilation and/or air conditioning; or a high school diploma and 4 years of relevant experience. Or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219. Click here for more information Preferred Qualifications: • 3-5 years of hands-on experience performing preventative and predictive maintenance on HVAC systems preferred. • EPA Certification or training in HVAC maintenance practices is desirable. • Practical experience in checking refrigerant charges and pressures, as well as handling and disposing of refrigerants safely. • Skilled in conducting repairs on a wide range of HVAC components, including air systems, compressors, and controls. Health Assessment Required: UCF policy requires completion and passing of a physical exam for this position. Special Instructions to the Applicants: The anticipated hourly range for this position is $23.33 - $31.21. The final rate will be determined based on the candidate's qualifications, experience, and internal equity considerations. Position requires a valid Class E driver’s license. The position may involve driving to various locations on and off campus to conduct University business. May be required to participate in respiratory, medical examination, and training in use of respirators.
