Industrial Maintenance Technician

Summary Estes Energetics is searching for an Industrial Maintenance Technician at our Goex black powder and chemical manufacturing facilities on Camp Minden in Minden, Louisiana. The Industrial Maintenance Technician performs preventive, facility, and production machinery maintenance. You will work closely with the production team to ensure safe and efficient operation of the manufacturing plant. You will be required to dress out in work-specific clothes issued to you by the company and shower at the end of each working day. Due to the unusual nature of our business, you will have times in which you and your team will need to interact with the production team to troubleshoot machinery issues while the line is hot. Teamwork is especially important here in all aspects of the job as we strive for safety. Essential Functions • Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and control systems to identify root causes and determine appropriate repairs. • Perform maintenance and repairs on equipment, machinery, and facility infrastructure, including mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and control components. • Install new equipment and systems, ensuring proper alignment, functionality, and integration with existing infrastructure. • Perform facility maintenance tasks, such as lighting, plumbing, HVAC, and general building repairs to support a safe and functional work environment. • Execute and maintain preventive maintenance schedules, both manually and through a computerized maintenance management system. • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities in both paper and electronic formats to ensure data integrity and compliance. • Follow all regulatory, environmental, and safety standards, including the proper implementation of lock-out/tag-out procedures and other safety protocols while performing work. Competencies, Experience, and Education Required • Strong troubleshooting skills in mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and control systems. • Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment used in maintenance and repair tasks. • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, blueprints, and diagrams. • Experience with equipment installation and system integration in an industrial environment. • Familiarity with facility maintenance, including basic plumbing, HVAC, lighting, and general repairs. • General carpentry skills, including framing, drywall repair, minor construction, and maintenance of structural elements. • Competency using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and maintaining accurate maintenance records. • Knowledge of safety standards and procedures, including lock-out/tag-out, PPE usage, and other OSHA regulations. • Strong organizational and documentation skills, with the ability to manage both paper and electronic records. • Effective communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work independently or as part of a cross-functional team. • Adaptability and problem-solving ability in fast-paced or high-pressure situations. • High school diploma or GED • Eligible to obtain and maintain State and Federal explosives licenses, including • * Be 21 years of age or older • Pass a ,pre-employment drug test • Pass State and Federal background checks. • Minimum of 3 years of experience in industrial maintenance Supervisory Responsibility None Work Environment The work will primarily be in an industrial explosives manufacturing environment. Physical Demands • Ability to lift 50 pounds • Comfortable sitting, standing, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling • Exposure to industrial machines, heat, cold, and explosives • Frequent movement through a manufacturing environment • Use of personal protective equipment appropriate to the work location Travel None Position Type and Expected Hours of Work This is a full-time position. Typical workdays are a ‘4x10’ schedule, 10 hours per day, 4 days per week. Employees are expected to work 40 hours each week to maintain full-time status. Occasional overtime may be required during busy periods, such as maintenance shutdowns. PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES: • Maintains advanced knowledge of, and strong skill proficiency in, the following vehicle components and systems, with the ability to perform complex repair maintenance functions, both on-site and on the road. • Chassis component repair and maintenance. • Refuse bodies, including control, hydraulic and electrical systems; Air and hydraulic braking systems. • Engine repair and maintenance. • Suspension, drivetrain and steering systems. • Heating and air conditioning systems. • Line maintenance welding and fabrication. • Identifies the source of the malfunctions using a variety of electronic tools. • Completes applicable Company training programs. • Performs other job-related duties as assigned or apparent. QUALIFICATIONS: • 3 years of experience as a technician working on heavy-duty trucks. • Ability to perform inspections and repairs without supervision in some (not all required) of the following heavy truck, or automotive systems: Suspensions & Steering, General Engine, Transmissions, Brakes, Electrical, Hydraulics, Drive Train, Diesel Emissions. • ASE Heavy Truck Certifications (T1-T8) are a plus but not required. • LNG and/or CNG experience is a plus but not required. • Class B or higher Commercial Driver’s License is a plus but not required. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS • Valid Driver’s License.
