HVAC Service Technician HVAC Service Technician Duties • Installation and maintenance of all sizes of heating and cooling systems for residential, commercial, institutional and industrial applications. • Repair and service heating, ventilating, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems to improve efficiency, such as by changing filters, cleaning ducts, or refilling non-toxic refrigerants for commercial and residential customers. • Testing, analyzing and start-up of systems • Determine causes of mechanical system operating errors and determine the solution. • Discuss heating and cooling system breakdowns with customer to isolate problems or to verify that repairs corrected the breakdowns. • Comply with all applicable standards, policies, and procedures, such as safety procedures and the maintenance of a clean work area. • Inspect and test systems to verify system compliance with plans and specifications or to detect and locate breakdowns. • Record and report time, materials, faults, deficiencies, or other unusual occurrences on work orders. • Install or repair self-contained ground source heat pumps to minimize carbon-based energy consumption and reduce carbon emissions.
