Electrician

• MUST BE ABLE TO PASS BACKGROUND CHECK TO OBTAIN BASE ACCESS* Responsibilities: Performs all electrical tasks with minimal general supervision or direction. This employee may be part of a crew of journeyman and apprentices or the lead person supervising and directing the work of the crew. Licenses: Current driver’s license and have own transportation. Experience: Has five years or more of previous electrical experience. Testing: Drug Testing as required. Working Conditions: – Includes inside and outside in all elements of weather. Job requires working from all types of ladders, must have all required personal tools with them at all times including a tool belt to facilitate the proper placement of personal hand tools. Perform work at various heights, up to 90’ from ladders, scaffolds, aerial lifts, catwalks or other safe work areas and/or platforms. Ability to work in restricted areas such as (switchgear rooms, underground electrical vaults, utility tunnels, crawl spaces and attic spaces). Employee must wear all proper personal protective equipment at all times as required for the specific job duties. Skill Level: Positively identify colors of wires, comprehends reading and drawing prints and schematics of same. Able to accurately make bends in conduit utilizing a hand bender or mechanical bender. Must be familiar with and have the ability to use all power tools, saws, conduit threading machines, wire pullers and knockout punches. Capable of digging trenches either by hand or with power equipment. Operate equipment such as backhoe’s, trenchers, lift trucks and excavators. Must adhere to company safety regulations, haz-com policy and lockout-tagout policy. Must be able to operate two handed tools/equipment such as cable cutters, hammer drills, compression tools and jack hammers. Must be able to read and follow jobsite specific directions, specifications, instructional manuals and blueprints. Must be able to work from an aerial lift. Must be able to supervise jobsite employees such as other electricians and/or apprentice’s to complete an assigned project. Physical Function: Ability to lift 75 pounds. Climb Ladders of all types and sizes. Ability to perform overhead work for full day assignments. Must be able to gain employee access to jobsites. Possess good vision either normally or corrected. Responsible for making sure all tools are stored in a safe place as designated by the jobsite Foreman. Ability to be constantly moving on your feet. Electrical Engineer Technician

Performs intermediate paraprofessional work in the design of electrical service and line additions, deletions, relocations, and rebuilding; does related work as required. Work is performed under the regular supervision of the Department Head’s designee. Designing and preparing construction plans; preparing work orders; explaining policies and requirements; obtaining easements; estimating project costs. (The following tasks are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work performed. The omission of specific duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment to the position.) • Designs, prepares and reviews plans for construction of overhead and underground lines, including new construction, reconductoring and rebuilding of old lines and foreign attachments. • Prepares work and services orders for line crews. • Informs leadership of workflow issues and updates processes as required. • Stakes out job sites; establishes locations for poles, transformers, cable, etc. • Meets with land developers, industrial and residential customers, State Officials, and others to obtain service requirements and propose locations of utilities. • Updates electric system maps through cooperation with GIS technician. • Prepares and obtains easements, rights-of-way, State Road encroachments and railroad encroachments. • Performs load calculations to size transformers, fuses, metering equipment and conductors. • Prepares cost estimates for labor, equipment, and materials. • Performs related tasks as required. General knowledge of the principles and practices of electrical utility design; general knowledge of regulations governing the location and placement of electric facilities; some knowledge of substation maintenance and operations; skill in the use of drafting equipment; ability to draft accurate plans and drawings; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, land developers and the general public. Education and Experience Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from an accredited community college with major course work in electrical engineering or related field and considerable experience in electrical engineering design work.
