General Foreman/Electrical Superintendent

We specialize in the Utility, Commercial/Industrial, telecommunications, renewables, and wireless construction marketplaces. We are looking to hire a talented GENERAL FOREMAN / ELECTRICAL SUPERINTENDENT in our Lewiston, Maine office. The primary functions of the position are to coordinate all project field activities in the safest manner possible, to provide effective and meaningful supervision of assigned craft personnel, and to ensure the work performed with the highest degree of safety, quality and efficiency, all in accordance with the project’s schedule, budget, plans and specifications. The position will require travel and relocation from time-to-time. This candidate will work with the Safety, Preplanning Team, Foremen, and field labor to achieve their respective objectives and will report directly to the Project Manager responsible for the project. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to: Included but are not limited to: • Understand and support all Company policies and procedures as well as any project-related strategic planning initiatives. • Promote Company training initiatives and make recommendations as to the progress of assigned field workforce personnel being trained. • Provide meaningful assistance with estimating and business development initiatives, as needed. • Prior to beginning work, with assistance from the safety department, prepare for management’s approval, a Project Specific Safety Plan as a means of ensuring all Company safety policies and procedures are followed and workplace incidents are minimized to the maximum degree possible. Take immediate corrective action whenever necessary to ensure the project’s safety performance is not compromised. Prepare, in a timely manner, all required incident and follow-up reports. • Before beginning work, become familiar with the project’s plans and specifications, schedule, budget and other relevant project documents. Make comments and raise questions accordingly to minimize any possible misunderstandings. • Participate in the project turnover process. • Provide meaningful input into the development of the project schedule and any subsequent updates. • In coordination with the Preplanning Team and the General Foreman, determine the sequence and how each phase of the work will be performed based on the requirements of the project, consistent with the Electrical Project Manager’s required breakdown and tracking requirements. • Hire, supervise and terminate all field personnel. Prepare and update, as necessary, workforce planning documents. • Coordinate with Project Management and others as necessary to best apply field labor to project types that correspond laterally with their experience levels. • Manage labor efficiency, labor rate and manloading all projects to maintain project budgets. Report any/all inefficiencies with corrective actions to the project teams immediately. Provide required monthly manpower reports. • Prepare and submit, as required of the position, daily time, and other project-related reports. • Provide Foremen and the appropriate field labor with labor hour objectives and the appropriate direction to assist in achieving the goals set. • Assist in management of material and equipment required for project. • Company owned and third-party rental equipment • Material management • Prefab planning and coordination • Delivery logistics management • Provide input for shop drawings and mark ups with on-going field activities. • Ensure all work is performed in a quality manner. Any changed conditions or other work issues that may arise are addressed promptly and support from other Company personnel is utilized, when appropriate. • Always provide effective interface with other project personnel while protecting the Company’s interests. • Follow a “Best Practices” philosophy by being pro-active in making creative, timely and meaningful suggestions as to how best to perform the work to maximize cost and schedule efficiencies. • Provide appropriate interface with applicable unions and, when necessary, communicate immediately to management any possible labor issues, such as complaints and grievances, needing further attention. • Maintain a positive liaison with other project related personnel and Company departments as a means of pro-actively supporting all project activities. • Other responsibilities, as assigned. SKILLS: The ideal candidate will possess and have demonstrated success with the following traits: • Current Maine Sate Journeyman or Master’s (preferred) license • Position also requires a current driver’s license and a clean driving record. • A high school diploma or General Education Degree [GED] • A minimum of 6 years’ electrical project construction experience in related fields. • A demonstrated ability to be a team leader with strong interpersonal and site management skills is a must as well as a working knowledge of computers and applicable computer programs. • Proven ability to manage multiple projects/activities in a dynamic, fast pace environment. • The position requires someone who is detailed oriented, analytical, organized, can meet established deadlines, has strong management and communication skills, and works well in pressure-type situations. • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with cross -functional teams. • Excellent decision making/problem solving skills • A high level of accuracy and attention to detail • Must have a consistent history of demonstrating loyalty and commitment. • Experience with the following software: Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, etc. In addition to the above listed minimum requirements, candidates who possess the following skills, experience, and capabilities may receive greater consideration during the evaluation process: • Scheduling programs (Microsoft Project and/or Primavera) • Vista Viewpoint • Accubid • Bluebeam • Document Control Programs/Experience - OUR MISSION: Sargent Electric Company strives to provide project management excellence and exceptional workmanship on every job.
