DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The Electrical Designer 2 will possess strong abilities to work collaboratively with all members of the design team, assist and mentor new designers and effectively communicate with customers, contractors, and staff. Specific Job Duties: • Under the guidance of an electrical engineer, develop and prepare detailed electrical engineering and construction installation documents and provide engineering support during the construction phase of a wide range of project types including residential, commercial, industrial, institutional, and healthcare. • Drafting and design of power plans including receptacle layout and circuiting, mechanical and owner equipment power connections, main electrical equipment room layouts, 1-line power riser diagrams, emergency/back-up generator and uninterruptible power systems, panel, and equipment schedules. • Drafting and design of lighting system including light fixture selection and layout, lighting calculations, photometric lighting analysis, and lighting controls. • Drafting and design of special systems plans to include fire alarm, voice/data, security, paging, and public address systems. • Write/edit project specifications (CSI divisions 26, 27, and 28). • Coordinate with other disciplines to gather specific information required to provide complete electrical designs on schedule. • Perform engineering calculations and studies for such items as power distribution system design, short circuit and coordination studies, lighting levels, etc. • Produce complete, code compliant project contract documents including drawings and specifications to be used for permitting, bidding, and construction. • Construction administration including tasks such as field inspections and reports, submittal reviews, RFI responses, project closeouts, as-built documentation, and issuing design change directives. • Consult with Project Managers on business development activities, proposal preparation, project scopes and deadlines. • Teach Designer 1 the basics of electrical systems design.
