Overview This position is a 100% travel position and jobsites can range from OH, WV, PA, NC, VA, NY, KY, MI (working a 10 and 4 schedule). Perform support functions to facilitate the safe, efficient and high quality completion of Bi-Con Services construction division projects. • Bi-Con Services employees working in safety-sensitive positions are drug and alcohol tested under the federal DOT regulations. Testing is conducted for pre-employment, on a random basis (according to the requirements of DOT), reasonable suspicion and post-accident (according to the requirements of DOT.) Under DOT regulations, marijuana, whether with a medical prescription or not, is considered an illegal substance.* Responsibilities • Promote the company’s safety culture. • Participate in daily huddles and safety meetings. • Safely use, maintain and store all tools and material used in the course of work. • Assist craftsman with the installation of threaded piping. Tasks include but are not limited to; retrieving material, installing pipe supports, obtaining field measurements and cutting and threading of pipe. • Assist craftsman with carpentry activities. Tasks include but are not limited to; retrieving material, measuring and cutting of material and installation of material. • Assist welding crew with piping activities. Tasks include but are not limited to; retrieving material, handling of pipe, installing structural supports and moving and stacking of skids. • Assist operators with excavation activities. Tasks include but are not limited to; hand excavation, hand backfill, compaction, line locating and excavation spotting. • Perform pipe coating activities. Tasks include but are not limited to; abrasive blasting, coating application and holiday detecting. • Perform flange make-up activities. Tasks include but are not limited to; retrieving material, preparing the flange faces and torqueing the flanges. • Install and maintain erosion and sedimentation control devices. • Install safety control measures such as safety fence. • Perform fire watch as needed. • Organize office and tool trailers. • Fire Watch as needed. • Other duties as assigned, to include general labor duties. ECS Limited is offering a unique opportunity for a talented Construction Materials Testing (CMT) Field Technician to join our Cambridge team and advance in a dynamic work environment. No prior experience is needed, as you'll work under the guidance of experienced professionals to learn to safely perform a variety of tasks. Responsibilities • Field Activities: Conduct observation, testing, and sampling of materials, including soils, aggregates, and concrete on construction materials testing project sites; Execute tasks based on project requirements under the guidance of senior technicians, staff professionals, and project managers. • Testing Procedures: Conduct routine field and/or laboratory tests for soils, aggregates, and concrete using various methodologies and testing equipment following industry standards and compliance. • Data Collection: Perform calculations and data reduction based on sampling, test results, and inspection; May assist with calculations, drafting, and other administrative duties as requested. • Communication: Maintain daily communication with site contractors, fellow technicians, and project managers; Communicate changing site conditions and additional requested testing to supervisor; Attend project meetings as requested; Assist with organization of field equipment and notify supervisor of broken or missing equipment as needed. • Training and Development: Receive training in ECS methodology for project observations, inspections, and testing; Document findings with precision in accordance with accepted engineering practices. Qualifications Required Qualifications • No experience required. • High school diploma or GED. • Must be able to lift a minimum of 85 pounds. • Must have valid driver's license and insurance. • Willing to develop understanding of heavy construction safety, practices, and procedures. • Willing to obtain knowledge of CMT principles and applications, as well as ASTM laboratory standards, leading to certifications in soils, concrete, and radiation safety. • OSHA 10 certification may be required. • Strong communication skills (speaking, reading, and writing). • Ability to work effectively with contractors, peers, and supervisors.
