Skilled Carpenter - Crate Builder

Elite Construction Company is seeking to hire a skilled and experienced carpenter- custom crate builder. Must have reliable transportation to work! Must be able to drive truck and pull trailer behind truck. Must be able to travel a few days a week out of town. This is an immediate job opening position! Position Summary: We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Carpenter-Crater to build custom wooden crates for shipping. This role is critical to ensuring our products arrive safely and securely to our customers. This is a unique position that requires EXPERIENCE USING TABLE SAWS, CHOP SAWS, BAND SAWS SANDERS, AND OTHER ELECTRIC OR AIR TOOLS. This work involves building patterns from sketches/drawings. Employees will also build frames for molds and make side boards, split boards, stop-offs for patterns and molds. Employees will also need to know general carpentry work. Employee will be responsible for cleaning his/her area after use and general housekeeping plus any other duties that the Supervisor may request. Carpenter/ Crate Builder Key Responsibilities: • Read and interpret blueprints and packaging specifications to determine crate dimensions and construction requirements. • Build custom wooden crates using hand and power tools, ensuring structural integrity and compliance with safety standards. • Incorporate internal bracing, cushioning, and moisture barriers to protect sensitive equipment. • Label crates with handling instructions, part numbers, and destination details. • Collaborate with production and logistics teams to meet shipping schedules. • Maintain inventory of crate-building materials and report shortages or defects. • Follow all safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized work area. Qualifications: • High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training in carpentry or industrial packaging preferred. • 2+ years of experience in crate building or carpentry, ideally in a manufacturing environment. • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings. • Skilled in using saws, drills, nail guns, and other carpentry tools. • Familiarity with packaging standards for heavy industrial equipment (e.g., ISPM 15 compliance). • Physical ability to lift heavy materials and work in a warehouse setting. • Ability to work in a shop environment daily from 8:00 am until 5:00 pm Must Be Drug Free At All times.
