Accounting Clerk

Description Position Summary The Diocese of Kansas City/St. Joseph is looking for a skilled Accounting Clerk to perform a variety of accounting, bookkeeping, and financial tasks. This is a full-time position, based upon a schedule of 40 hours per week. Accounting Clerk responsibilities include keeping financial records updated, preparing reports and reconciling bank statements. You will also run accounting software programs to process business transactions, like accounts payable and receivable, disbursements, expense vouchers and receipts. Responsibilities: Finance and Management Support • Prepare bank deposits • Prepare monthly and specialized billing • Follow up on outstanding AR balances • Prepare monthly analysis of outstanding AR balances • Prepare and enter journal entries • Handle account inquiries • Reconcile bank accounts • Investigate account discrepancies • Assist Insurance Office with general ledger entries and monthly account reconciliations • Prepare financial analysis of annual parish financial reports • Administer the Charitable Gift Annuity Program • Provide back up to Accounting Office Team Administer diocesan property tax records. • Maintain list of diocesan properties on which taxes are paid • Apply for and process tax exemption applications • Process tax payments • Bill parish tax reimbursements Provide contract administration for building projects • Handle administrative aspects of the Asbestos Management Program and Property Inspections. • Maintain lease files and assist in preparation of documents. • Administer Guidelines for New Construction and Major Renovation Projects, verify Architect and Contractor are in compliance, audit payment requests and ensure owner requirements are met. • Perform daily record-keeping, including accounting, correspondence and maintain project files. • Plan and attend all progress meetings with the Diocesan Building Commission with Architects, Contractors and Pastor/Parish committees. • Collect and prepare Wage/Benefit Analysis for construction projects.
