CARPENTER | SAGINAW Spence Brothers, a General Contractor and Construction Manager, is looking to fill a full time Carpenter position to service our mid-Michigan market, based out of our Saginaw office. Key Duties & Responsibilities • Provide expertise in performing journeyman-level rough and finish carpentry duties. • Following blueprints and building plans to meet the needs of client’s blueprints. • Utilize a proactive approach to anticipate and resolve potential issues. • Installing structures and fixtures, such as windows and molding. • Measuring, cutting, or shaping wood, plastic, and other materials. • Constructing building frameworks, including walls, floors, and door frames. • Helping to erect, level, and install building framework with the aid of rigging hardware and cranes. • Inspecting and replacing damaged framework or other structures and fixtures. • Set up concrete pours. • Concrete formwork for slabs, footings, walls, columns, etc. • Install doors, frames and hardware. • Install casework and countertops. • Complete other responsibilities as assigned. Qualifications • Must hold a current Journeyman Carpenter license/certificate (if required by the applicable state, city or county). • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a carpenter or similar role. • Considerable knowledge of: rough and finish carpentry; tools, equipment materials and safety practices of carpentry work; building techniques of new and remodel. construction; masonry, concrete, steel, pre-cast and wood construction. • Display hand-to-eye coordination, mathematical skills, strength, stamina, and be detailed orientated. • Display basic computer skills. Work Environment & Physical Demands • All PPE (Personnel Protective Equipment) Must be worn at all times (safety vest, protective eyewear, hearing protection, gloves, sleeves as needed, hard hat, face shield, & approved footwear). • Physical Requirements: Climbing, standing, sitting, walking, reaching, bending, balancing, squatting and kneeling for prolonged periods at a time. Ability to lift/push/pull up to and not limited to 100lbs. • Ability to work at on-site locations. Construction sites may be indoors or outdoors. May sometimes involve heights, exposure to hot or cold weather, loud noises, dust and fumes. • Capable of working in a variety of weather conditions. • Adhere to all OSHA and Spence Brothers safety practices and procedures.
