Job Summary: • Provide basic construction skills for residents and businesses in Lansing and the surrounding area. • Effectively communicate with clients and suppliers. • Evaluate customer requests, price projects, troubleshoot customer issues, and present a description of a work order to a customer. • Determine and clearly identify proper materials and quantities for new and existing projects. Description: We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Carpenter and Make Ready Technician to join our maintenance team at Newbury Residential. This role is responsible for performing carpentry tasks and preparing apartment units for new residents, ensuring high-quality repairs, renovations, and turnovers in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem-solver with strong carpentry skills and a commitment to delivering exceptional living spaces for our residents. Carpentry Tasks: • Construct, install, and repair cabinetry, shelving, doors, window frames, and other wooden structures. • Perform framing, drywall installation, and finishing work for apartment renovations and repairs. • Build and install trim, molding, and other decorative elements to enhance unit aesthetics. • Ensure all carpentry work meets safety standards and complies with local building codes. Make Ready Duties: • Prepare vacant apartment units for new residents, including painting, patching walls, and replacing fixtures. • Conduct thorough inspections of units to identify and address maintenance issues, such as plumbing leaks, electrical problems, or flooring repairs. • Replace or repair damaged components, including flooring, countertops, and appliances, as needed. • Clean and sanitize units to ensure they are move-in ready. General Maintenance: • Respond to resident maintenance requests related to carpentry and general repairs in a timely manner. • Assist with other maintenance tasks, such as minor plumbing, electrical, or HVAC repairs, as directed. • Maintain tools, equipment, and inventory of supplies, reporting needs to the maintenance supervisor.
