Carpenter

Qualifications: • Ability to perform work involving physical strength and endurance • Ability to work from a ladder or scaffolding • Ability to recognize and use tools related to the carpenter trade • At least three (3) years of progressive responsible experience as a carpenter • Ability to plan and organize details of assignments, read and understand blueprints, diagrams and manuals • Knowledge of the Standard Building Codes as it pertains to general construction • Journeyman level skill in the use of the tools, materials, and equipment of the carpenter trade. • Holds a valid Florida driver's license. Preferred Qualifications: • High school diploma or equivalent • Completion of a technical program related to the trade at a vocational school, college, military training program, or have completed an apprenticeship program Performance Responsibilities: • Observes all safe work practices when using tools, equipment, and chemicals. • Works effectively with, cooperates with, and supports other employees. • Performs work from official work request. • Maintains a supply of generally used materials on the school board vehicle. • Maintains and takes proper care of school board tools and equipment. • Keeps records as to maintenance performed from each work request. • Recommends to supervisor materials to be used. • Repairs wood, flooring, door frames, doors, window frames, staircases, stair treads, wall paneling, ceiling, and other structural elements. • Pours concrete floors, walks, etc. • Repairs furniture when needed. • Performs finish carpentry work such as trim carpentry, cabinet construction. • Installs and repairs door hardware. • Ability to lay block and brick. • Attends formal training sessions. • Advises maintenance manager if a work order or repair should be performed by outside contractors based on scope of work, materials required, or personal experience. • Performs other job-related functions as may be assigned.
