The Carpenter is skilled in the completion of carpentry tasks and other duties related to the completion of the project as related to the scope of repairs. They assist the Superintendent and Project Management staff in responsibilities that relate to managing the repairs of commercial structures. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES for the Carpenter: • Complete carpentry tasks associated with commercial buildings. • Manages available resources to complete assigned tasks. • Cognizant of job and personal safety. • Assist Superintendent with onsite trade supervision and staff. • All other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS: • Education: Associates degree (A.A or A.S) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school, preferred but not required with relevant experience. • Experience: One-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. • Skills Imperative to The Job: • Able to communicate effectively with co-workers as required to complete tasks. • Proficient carpentry skills. • Able to use tools of the trade with precision. • Desirable Skills: • Bi-lingual • Knowledgeable in the industry standards for basic Carpentry duties. • Knowledge and experience in local communities of region. • Must be willing to travel throughout the Mid-Atlantic and Southeastern United States as needed. LANGUAGE SKILLS: The Carpenter must possess the ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Demonstrate the ability to write routine reports, correspondence, and the ability to speak effectively to customers and/or employees of organization in the English language. TECHNICAL SKILLS: To perform this job successfully, the Carpenter should have knowledge of industry related software be able to “touch type” and be familiar with software like Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.); able to communicate via cell phone and appropriate apps. REASONING ABILITY: The Carpenter should possess the ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. They should also have the ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form in the English language. WORK ENVIRONMENT: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions. The employee is also frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and high, precarious places. The Carpenter is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; risk of electrical shock and vibration.
