EXPERIENCE/SKILLS • 5- plus year's commercial construction experience desired. • Completion of a two-year carpentry program through a trade school and/or accredited carpenter's apprenticeship program desired. JOB DESCRIPTION The Carpenter performs skilled carpentry work in the construction, maintenance, alteration and repair of buildings, structures, equipment and other structures made all or partially of wood, metal and concrete. The Carpenter must also perform general rough and finish carpentry construction, alteration and maintenance work on structures, scaffolding, forms, fences, signs, furniture and other temporary fixtures such as barricades, staking and storage areas. The position may assist other craft workers. • Operate power tools of all types and styles, including all other standard carpentry tools, to perform all aspects of the trade such as measuring, cutting and shaping wood, plastic, drywall and other materials. • Performs materials handling and storage. • Ensures that proper safety and incident reporting procedures are followed. • Performs manual work in preparing areas for construction. • Build and position forms for pouring concrete, dismantle forms after use, using saws, hammers, nails or bolts. • Perform aspects of rough carpentry including, but not limited to, framing windows and doors, sub-flooring and stairs. • Perform aspects of finish carpentry including, but not limited to, trim, molding, furniture and casework. • Erect and take down scaffolding. • Performs a variety of tasks involving strenuous manual labor in construction projects. PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The position is required to lift heavy objects, walk and stand for long periods of time and perform strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions. The employee lifts, pushes, pulls or carries objects and uses abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue. The position requires good manual dexterity (hand, hand with arm, two hands) and multi-limbed coordination. The position requires full mobility of the back, arms and legs in the course of performing this job. The employee must have excellent stamina. While performing the essential functions of this position, the employee is exposed to wet, cold, heat, quickly changing conditions, work near moving mechanical parts, work in high precarious places, outdoor weather conditions, extreme cold and extreme heat. Carpenter – Missoula

Job Description Location: Missoula, MT The Carpenter will build, erect, install and repair forms, structures and other fixtures made from wood, metal and other materials as needed to assist with the various types of constructions projects. These tasks will be performed on residential and commercial construction projects. The Carpenter works directly for the Foreman or Superintendent. Travel out of town during the work week may be required depending on work site location. Qualifications And Required Skills • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation • Ability to communicate and follow instructions in English • Ability to read, write and do basic math • Must provide own basic tools • Good physical condition and endurance • Previous construction experience is required • Knowledge of framing with wood or metal is required • Ability to read and understand blueprints or building plans • Completion of a two-year carpentry program through a trade school and/or accredited carpenter’s apprenticeship program is desired • Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and physical Essential Job Functions, Duties, And Responsibilities • Shows up to work on time for the required shift at the assigned job site • Receives and follows all instructions from Lead Carpenters, Foremen and Superintendents • Keeps all tools clean and in working condition • Helps maintain a clean job site by conducting housekeeping (cleaning trash, removing debris, sweeping, etc.) • Conducts demolition of structures • Loads, unloads and moves building materials • Uses various hand and power tools to securely build assigned projects • Installs windows, doors and weather protection materials • Assembles and installs fixtures and fittings such as door handles, locks, hinges and closers Additional Duties And Responsibilities • Mentors and trains Laborers and Carpenter Assistants • Once certified, may use a telehandler forklift or skidsteer to complete tasks • Use a company vehicle to pick up or deliver materials • Any other tasks provided by Foremen, Safety Personnel or Superintendents Working Conditions and Physical Demands This position is extremely strenuous. Applicants must be able to lift and carry heavy objects. Applicants must be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions. Activities will include climbing ladders or scaffolding, walking, balancing, stooping, kneeling and standing for long periods of time. Framer/Carpenter

Position Objective To perform daily construction activities with a focus on safety, quality, and efficiency, supporting the successful completion of residential and/or commercial projects. Key Responsibilities 1. Review and interpret blueprints, sketches, and building plans to determine required materials, dimensions, and construction methods. 2. Perform assigned tasks, including framing, siding, and carpentry. Additional tasks may include excavation, demolition, concrete work, material handling, setting up/breaking down workstations and scaffolding (with training), tool maintenance, punch list tasks, and assisting trade contractors. 3. Prepare layouts; build stairs; install partitions. 4. Select appropriate lumber and other construction materials. 5. Mark cutting and assembly lines on materials. 6. Cut, shape, and assemble materials using appropriate tools and fastening methods. 7. Verify accuracy and alignment of structures using proper measuring tools. 8. Erect frameworks, subflooring, and structural supports. 9. Install windows, doors, trim, weatherproofing, hardware, and finish details. 10. Construct forms and chutes for concrete placement. 11. Safely erect scaffolding and ladders for elevated work. 12. Report hazards, damages, or oversights promptly to the superintendent. 13. Maintain clean and organized jobsites, including daily debris removal and sweeping. 14. Assist in receiving, unloading, and properly storing materials; protect materials from weather. 15. Perform seasonal site duties such as de-icing, snow removal, and supplying heat in winter. 16. Install/remove temporary safety barriers, sidewalks, and stair railings. 17. Ensure excavated areas and hazards are clearly marked for safety. Supervisory Responsibilities Limited. May supervise crew members when directed by the Construction Superintendent or Director of Operations.
