Carpenter

Your job is more than a job. The Carpenter studies blueprints, sketches and building plans to construct wooden structures. Applies carpentry procedures for fabrication of structures. Marks lines on materials for cutting, assembly and shapes materials to measurement. Assembles and fastens materials, measuring structures with plumb bob, level and ruler. Inspects, repairs, maintains carpentry equipment and hand-tools. Your every day • Carpentry: -Draws and designs cabinetry, furniture, etc. as assigned. -Assembles wooden pieces using glue, nails, screws etc. on items such as crates, stands, tables, shelves, counters and cabinets. -Reads blueprints or specifications to determine procedures of constructing, furniture, partitions and other items. -Sands, seals, fabricates and repairs wooden structures. -Fit and hang doors on hinges, cut and installs locks and door closures. • Financial: -Requisitions materials for authorized work orders, keeps records of the time and materials expended on all work orders. • Quality: -Maintains and helps clean shop area and tools. -Observes all safety regulations and practices. -Inspects equipment, parts and machines to insure correct operation and detect any faults. • People: -Trains new employees and performs cross craft training as assigned. Your must haves • 1 to 3 years of experience in Carpentry or related area. • Experience in a clinical/hospital setting preferred. • Required: Bachelor's Degree from an approved trade or vocational school with courses in blueprint reading, mechanical drawings, mathematics, carpentry and woodworking or its equivalent in work experience • Strong working knowledge of door, door frame, and door hardware repair and maintenance. • Must have the ability to read and discern written instructions, construction documents, maintenance manuals, etc. • Demonstrates good time management and organizational skills • Works well with others in a collaborative environment. Description: The primary purpose of the Carpenter is to complete rough and finished skilled carpentry work, including commercial drywall, metal stud framing, doors, frames, and hardware.
