Shipyard Carpenter Journeyperson

Job Description Job Description Position Overview We are seeking skilled Carpenters with experience in yacht construction, repair, and outfitting to join our team in Morgan City, LA. This is an exciting opportunity to work on luxury yachts and contribute to world-class marine projects. If you are a journeyperson carpenter with strong woodworking skills and an eye for detail, we want to hear from you! Key Responsibilities • Yacht Carpentry: Fabricate, install, and repair wood and composite structures aboard yachts, including bulkheads, decks, and interior finishes. • Joinery & Finishes: Perform precision joinery, cabinetry, and panel installation to meet yacht-quality standards. • Blueprint Reading: Interpret drawings, specifications, and product data sheets to ensure accuracy and compliance with design. • Tool Operation: Safely operate woodworking equipment such as saws, routers, planers, drills, and sanders. • Blocking & Cradling: Build custom cradles and blocking arrangements for yacht outfitting and equipment. • Measurements & Accuracy: Work with US standard and metric systems to cut, fit, and assemble to tight tolerances. • Workplace Safety: Follow OSHA regulations, safety protocols, and utilize PPE. • Clean Work Practices: Maintain a clean and organized work environment to uphold yacht-quality craftsmanship. Qualifications & Experience • Education: High school diploma, GED, or vocational training preferred. • Experience: Minimum 3+ years of carpentry experience ; yacht, marine, or luxury interior carpentry experience strongly preferred. • Skills: • Proficiency in joinery, finish carpentry, and woodworking. • Ability to read and work from blueprints and specifications. • Knowledge of fasteners, adhesives, and wood types used in yacht building. • Forklift operation experience a plus. • Physical Requirements: • Ability to lift/push/pull up to 50 lbs frequently. • Comfortable standing, kneeling, climbing, and working in confined spaces or at heights. • Good balance and manual dexterity for detailed work.
