Responsibilities • Repairs all types of furniture and wooden items. , • Builds high quality bookcases, tables, lockers, cabinets, museum cases and fixtures. , • Sands, finishes, refinishes, varnishes and stains furniture and other finished articles of wood. , • Measures and precisely cuts a variety of artificial mate rails such as plastic, particle-board, formica, etc. , • Canes and upholsters furniture. , • Makes knives to produce special moldings and operates a planer, shaper, jointer, work lathe, drill press, mortising, boring, tenoning machines, jig saws, rip saws and cut-off saws. , • Installs and fits fine trim work around lights, electrical fixtures, doors, windows and other outlets. , • Estimates time and material for carpentry projects. , • Inspects and approves work of contractual employees. , • Lays out, surveys and constructs all manner of detailed carpentry projects from shop drawings or blueprints. , • Installs and repairs locks. , • Finishes high grade carpentry projects. , • Mortises doors and other construction related detailed work. , • Lays out and installs floor tile including resilient tile. , • Estimates supplies needed for completion of specified projects. , • Provides guidance for subordinate Carpenters and trades personnel as needed. , • Keeps records as required by supervisory personnel. , • Oversees apprentice training. , • Performs other duties as needed to ensure the smooth flow of work within the job unit.
