General Carpenter

SUMMARY The primary purpose of this position is to perform a variety of tasks to improve and maintain the physical quality of the assigned property. Performs highly skilled work to diagnose construction/maintenance problems and execute the necessary repairs. All activities must support Advantix’s strategic goals and objectives and produce results that accomplish the goals of the overall organization. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Primary areas of responsibility and tasks that may typically be expected include but are not limited to: • Performs preventative maintenance and apartment turns. • Communicates with Facilities Director Assistant/Lead Carpenter regarding the status of work and issues that arise. • Ensures unit turn supplies are in stock and has supplies ordered as needed. • Ensures safe work practices and operation of tools at all times. • Employs construction and maintenance tools and equipment to complete daily tasks. • Completes all assigned tasks in a timely efficient manner. • Pours and finishes concrete. • Installs and/or repairs cabinets and drawers. • Installs and/or repairs counters and vanities. • Installs and/or repairs drywall which includes mudding, sanding, and stomping of ceilings. • Installs and/or repairs doors and windows. • Installs and/or repairs locks and hardware. • Installs and/or repairs roofing and gutters. • Paints interior and exterior surfaces. • Performs other related duties as assigned and/or required by the Facilities Director/Senior Construction Project Manager. EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND/OR CERTIFICATION • High School Diploma or G.E.D. required as well as Journeyman’s Qualification in at least one of the major maintenance functions. Four (4) years of related construction experience is preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. • Possession of valid Indiana Driver’s License. COMPUTER AND ADMINISTRATIVE SKILLS To perform this job successfully, an individual should have average abilities using computer software such as MS Word, and Outlook and should be capable of using internet resources for research and developing reports. Proficient in operating and troubleshooting personal and laptop computers. Ability to learn other computer software programs as required by assigned tasks. PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Frequently move about the interior and exterior of assigned property. Work involves the normal risks or discomforts associated with an office environment, and those associated with the on-site inspection of buildings/construction sites.
