Location: Telferner Job Summary The Safety Specialist is responsible for implementing safety and health programs within the day-to-day station operations with a focus on employee engagement, culture, injury prevention and regulatory compliance. Responsibilities • Influence and motivate others to work in a safe manner and communicate safety requirements during shift briefings, Job Briefings and planned scheduling meetings. • Coordinate and implement compliance with OSHA and company safety standards. • Implement the Company’s Safety and Health Management program, and ensure compliance • Designated Program Administrator for key Safety and Health programs. • Coordinate with management of the facility on regulatory interpretation, timely internal and external reporting, and overall safety and health compliance. • Conduct internal safety and health audits and incremental inspections of the facility to ensure compliance. • Investigate accidents and incidents for root cause with a focus on identifying corrective actions to prevent a recurrence. • Evaluate the effectiveness of safety programs, designs improvements, and works with management to implement identified improvements. • Evaluate, develop, and assist with delivering training to improve skills in the safety aspects of employees' jobs. Working Conditions • Office environment and/or outdoor Power Plant work environment including working at heights, high/low ambient temperatures and high humidity areas. • Willingness to work outside normal business hours as necessary, to support operations, maintenance and outage activities. • Requires occasional travel to other plant locations for meetings and safety support. • Requires wearing personal protective safety equipment (respirators, safety glasses, hard hat, appropriate footwear, ear plugs, etc.). • May be required to work around rotating and energized electrical equipment, hazardous materials and chemicals and heat producing equipment/environments. • Requires operation of a personal computer. Qualifications • High school diploma or GED • A minimum of five years full time Safety experience in a comparable industrial environment. In lieu of five years Safety experience, ten years industry related experience with requisite safety responsibilities may be considered • Certified Safety Professional, Occupational Health & Safety Technologist, or Certified Industrial Hygienist or preparing to become certified • Must have valid state driver’s license Preferred Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Safety and Health or related discipline • SGE (Special Government Employee) experience • VPP (Voluntary Protection Program) champion Additional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities • Ability to work with minimum direct supervision. • Strong working knowledge of regulatory requirements. • Excellent oral and written communication skills. • Understanding of OSHA’s Electric Power Generation standard. • Must possess functional computer skills specifically in Microsoft Office software. • Ability to run a functional safety committee/sub-committee with agendas, meeting minutes, and a charter. • Basic understanding of occupational health and industrial hygiene principles. • Ability to interact effectively in a team environment and with individuals at all levels of the organization. • Ability to compile, analyze, and interpret data. • An understanding of the factors that influence human behavior. • Ability to conduct incident analyses. • Ability to prioritize tasks within a fast-paced dynamic environment. Physical Requirements (Demand and Frequency) • Stand, walk, climb ladders, bend, kneel, crawl, pull/push and lift up to 25 pounds. • Perform work both indoors and outdoors, occasionally in adverse conditions. • Wear job related personal protective equipment (PPE). • Occasionally work at heights and enter enclosed vessels or confined spaces. Job Summary: The Planner/Scheduler position is intended for an individual with experience in scheduling / planning of maintenance activities. This knowledge can be gained through prior experience or a combination of college/technical/military training and experience. Detail oriented, self-starter with problem solving experience and capability. • Promote safety by assuring that all safety rules and regulations are followed including the coordination and supervision of equipment isolation and tagging procedures. • Communicate and lead in accordance with company vision and core values. Strong competencies in communication, teamwork, interpersonal effectiveness. • Work with Maintenance and Operations departments coordinating planning activities. • Develop and draft written maintenance plans (PM’s) for the plant. • Conduct weekly and daily maintenance scheduling while helping establish plant maintenance priorities in accordance with Plant Operations’ priorities. • Provides detailed planning by developing scopes of work, identifying, and estimating manpower and material requirements, and identifying all associated activities required to accomplish the work. • Determine and schedule necessary resources using Primavera P6, PasTA, SAP e.g., materials, and special tools or equipment required to perform maintenance inspections and/or work. • Interpret technical manuals, sketches, prints, instructions, manufacturer’s data, and equipment history records while incorporating the applicable information in developing maintenance plans. • Track and update schedule daily, communicate updates to Stakeholders, provide daily reports, and integrate changes into schedule updates • Coordinate and interface between various work groups. • Gains cooperation and action from people not under employee's direct reporting. • Reviews and updates job plans/work packages as needed. • Provides training to other team members as part of personnel development. • Participates in daily Plan Of the Day meetings and End Of Day updates. • Lead schedule and backlog review meetings with various Work Management stakeholders. . • Identify and resolve weekly schedule conflicts. • Analyze and update SAP on actual versus estimated time, equipment, and manpower requirements. • Initiate / update notifications, work orders, BOM’s, PM’s, Task Lists and support all assigned work (including major scheduled or forced outages planning and execution) and participate in developing weekly plans. • Coordinate with Procurement and vendors to request/receive information and to expedite the approval of documents and the delivery of materials. • Collateral duties and special projects as assigned by the O&M Manager. • Support the implementation of NRG policies and procedures. • Development of technical / engineered work packages. • Participate in spare parts optimization initiatives, criticality ranking, and development of maintenance strategies.
