A Snapshot of Your Day A local Wind Service Technician is responsible for the safe and efficient operation and maintenance of wind turbines, ensuring the wind farm produces reliable power. This wind farm is located in Baird, TX. They perform a range of duties including routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems, as well as climbing towers for inspections and repairs. They also chip in to the overall safety and efficiency of the wind farm by following safety protocols, maintaining records, and assisting with other tasks as needed How You’ll Make An Impact • Drive the Safety Culture on site: Set the standard for safety and ensure that others working around you are being safe and working in the correct way. • Drive Quality in each turbine: Perform high quality maintenances with your team and support in improving the cleanliness and the operation of the machines every day. • Drive continuous process improvements: Provide suggestions and ideas to the leadership on site to make improvement to the current processes and any other idea’s that could potentially drive a positive change in how the site operates. • Improve cost impacts to the organization: Reduce costs by performing high quality maintenances in the machines and leaving a positive impact on the turbines so that they operate more efficiently and effectively. What You Bring • Driving is an essential function of the job and applicants must have a valid driver’s license at the time of application with an acceptable driving record. Employees must maintain a valid license and acceptable driving record and may be subject to periodic DMV checks of their license. • Minimum two years Wind Experience with a High School Diploma or GED required. 3+ plus years Wind experience with an Associates or Trade School Degree/Certification. • Proficiency in Microsoft software suite (Word, Excel, Power Point). • Ability to climb to heights up to 250 feet or greater and work in confined spaces. • Must meet body weight restrictions of 265 pounds or less as required by the safety regulations. • Must pass a physical administered by a medical practitioner to ensure ability to safely perform the job functions and meet the physical demands of the position. Your day-to-day! • Support all operations and maintenance activities for Balance of Plant (BoP) assets; • Ensure that BOP maintenance is conducted in accordance with NERC and industry standards; • Perform switching and grounding of HV equipment for circuit breakers, disconnect switches, power transformers and all related components; • Be on call and coordinate response to unplanned outages; • Perform IR thermography, DGA oil sampling, electrical equipment maintenance and support/train Innergex staff; • Manage contractors for performance of certain BOP maintenance and repairs; • Plan and perform equipment inspections, routine maintenance and repairs to ensure compliance with applicable NERC and industry standards; • Manage and maintain HV spares inventory at US projects; • Support and coordinate commissioning, start-up, and initial operating activities; • Assist with NERC compliance reports and liaise with the Reliability Compliance Team as required; • Develop, implement and improve HV safe work practices; • Assess the competency of Innergex personnel to perform switching of HV equipment; • Provide support and feedback regarding electrical design, engineering, testing, and construction at new wind farms as requested; • Various tasks to support Operations as needed.
