Wind Technician- On site (Baird, TX)

A Snapshot of Your Day A local Wind Service Technician is responsible for the safe and efficient operation and maintenance of wind turbines, ensuring the wind farm produces reliable power. This wind farm is located in Baird, TX. They perform a range of duties including routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems, as well as climbing towers for inspections and repairs. They also chip in to the overall safety and efficiency of the wind farm by following safety protocols, maintaining records, and assisting with other tasks as needed How You’ll Make An Impact • Drive the Safety Culture on site: Set the standard for safety and ensure that others working around you are being safe and working in the correct way. • Drive Quality in each turbine: Perform high quality maintenances with your team and support in improving the cleanliness and the operation of the machines every day. • Drive continuous process improvements: Provide suggestions and ideas to the leadership on site to make improvement to the current processes and any other idea’s that could potentially drive a positive change in how the site operates. • Improve cost impacts to the organization: Reduce costs by performing high quality maintenances in the machines and leaving a positive impact on the turbines so that they operate more efficiently and effectively. What You Bring • Driving is an essential function of the job and applicants must have a valid driver’s license at the time of application with an acceptable driving record. Employees must maintain a valid license and acceptable driving record and may be subject to periodic DMV checks of their license. • Minimum two years Wind Experience with a High School Diploma or GED required. 3+ plus years Wind experience with an Associates or Trade School Degree/Certification. • Proficiency in Microsoft software suite (Word, Excel, Power Point). • Ability to climb to heights up to 250 feet or greater and work in confined spaces. • Must meet body weight restrictions of 265 pounds or less as required by the safety regulations. • Must pass a physical administered by a medical practitioner to ensure ability to safely perform the job functions and meet the physical demands of the position. Wind Turbine Technician- King Creek Windfarm: Abilene, TX area

A Snapshot of Your Day As a Wind Turbine Technician, you’ll be responsible for the routine service, maintenance, and troubleshooting of Siemens Gamesa and/or Senvion wind turbines. Conduct blade inspections as a primary responsibility, thoroughly examining all blade quadrants and documenting any findings. While based at a home wind farm, you’ll also support a mobile team that covers up to three additional sites as needed. How You’ll Make An Impact • Performing scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on turbines, including mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems. Diagnosing faults and performing repairs in a safe and timely manner • Climbing turbines (up to 300 feet) and working in confined spaces at elevation. Responding effectively to stressful or hazardous situations, ensuring the safety of yourself and your team • Recording and reporting service activity accurately using company tools and protocols. Supporting the development and feedback process for new and revised field procedures • Maintaining compliance with safety standards, site rules, and environmental protocols • Being physically prepared for job demands including ladder climbing (minimum 267 steps), lifting, bending, working overhead, and operating in adverse weather conditions • Traveling as required, typically to other sites in close proximity, supporting other operational needs. You may also tackle additional site lead level responsibilities depending on project needs and your experience. What You Bring • High school diploma or GED required; additional education or experience in electrical or mechanical systems is preferred. Various combinations of training and experience will be considered. • Minimum of 2 years' experience working in a technical, mechanical, or electrical field, ideally related to wind turbines. • In order to work safely in a team setting candidates must meet physical demands, including weight restrictions under 265 lbs and passing a job-specific medical exam. • Strong skills in planning, problem-solving, and independent decision-making with a focus on quality and safety. • Hands on experience with electrical systems, including PLCs and converters; customer-facing experience is an asset. • Daily mobilization to local sites for internal blade inspections. Long term travel is not expected, but short term travel may be requested occasionally to support other projects..
