Job Overview Solar Technician: Key Responsibilities and Requirements • A critical member of our team, responsible for ensuring the smooth operation and maintenance of utility-scale solar power generation plants. Key Responsibilities: We are seeking a skilled Solar Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical and mechanical systems, with experience in troubleshooting and repairing complex equipment. This role is perfect for individuals who enjoy working outdoors, are physically fit, and possess excellent problem-solving skills. Main Tasks: • Ensure strict compliance with environmental, health, and safety (EHS) programs. • Operate and maintain various equipment, including high-voltage gear, combiner systems, inverters, pad mount transformers, control panels, MET stations, tracker systems, etc. • Perform quality assessments and quality control on work performed by contractors. • Read schematics to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical control systems. • Repair or replace faulty parts, adhering to manufacturer requirements. • Conduct regular preventive maintenance according to equipment manuals. • Adhere to effective internal controls. • Set up sites for efficient tooling, inventory, spare parts, and other necessary equipment. • Assist Plant Managers with warranty administration, tracking claims, and loaned parts reconciliation. • Participate in capital improvement programs and retrofits. • Assist with vegetation management as needed. • Take part in a rotating on-call schedule, occasionally requiring night shifts, weekends, or holidays. • Travel periodically to maintain efficient operations of equipment and fleet sites. Qualifications: To be successful in this role, you will need: • At least 3 years of relevant experience or power industry training. • Demonstrated expertise in solar facility operations and maintenance, including 3 years' experience in renewable or other power generation development, design, permitting, construction, or operations. • Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively across all levels of the organization. • Familiarity with computerized diagnostic and troubleshooting tools, as well as word processing, spreadsheets, email, facility control, management, and reporting systems. • A valid driver's license and ability to work in adverse weather conditions. • The ability to pass a fitness-for-duty physical examination. • Knowledge of equipment required for facility maintenance and proficiency in interpreting electrical schematics and prints. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: • Experience in solar plant operations or related power plant operations. • Master or Journeyman electrical license certified through the state of Ohio. • Experience in high-voltage maintenance and switching, as well as using test equipment for troubleshooting. • Establishing and improving preventative maintenance programs. • Working with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
