About the position Responsibilities • Designs, fabricates, joins and/or repairs equipment, fixtures and various types of metal objects and structures using oxygen-acetylene, electric arc, MIG and TIG welding techniques. • Welds in controlled atmosphere, plasma welds, and cuts. • Welds high vacuum and high pressure systems. • Heat treats and thermosprays equipment, fixtures, and various types of metal objects and structures. • Operates drill presses, power saws, grinders, metal lathes and a variety of welding equipment and hand tools. • Analyzes plans, drawings, work samples, specifications and work orders to determine work requirements and sequence of welding assignments. • Recommends supplies and materials to be ordered. Requirements • High school diploma or high school diploma equivalency is required. • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience. • In addition to the education and experience minimum qualifications, Apprenticeship program, technical training experience required. • Must have a valid driver's license and ability to drive according to the University Fleet Safety Policy.
