Your responsibilities will include: • Welding fabricate parts, and repairing vehicles, equipment, and heavy equipment in accordance with standard procedures, safety regulations, and City policy. • Working independently and making appropriate decisions based on work experience. • Examining materials to be repaired to determine the strength and heating properties of parent metals and alloys; studies blueprints and sketches to determine needed repairs and construction standards. • Using welding equipment to join metal pieces and burn or cut through metal. • Maintaining work area and equipment; inspecting and cleaning equipment and facility. • Performing maintenance and repairs within scope of authority, and in accordance with all safety regulations and procedures; notifying supervisors of repair problems beyond the scope of authority. • Performing general maintenance, construction, and repair tasks as directed. • Ensuring that safety rules and regulations are followed; utilizing proper safety precautions in all work performed; reporting safety hazards, equipment problems, and emergency situations. • Ensuring that hazardous materials are cleaned up and stored according to City policy and procedures; responds to emergencies as needed. • Hours: Monday through Friday, 7:30 am to 4:00 pm, rotating on call position that may include holidays or weekends. • Regular and timely attendance is required.
