The ideal candidate has a positive and can-do attitude, is a team player, is flexible and adaptable to change, and is reliable. Pipefitter welding experience is a plus! Summary of Position Joins, fabricates, and repairs metal and other weldable material by applying appropriate welding techniques and operating various welding devices. Interprets blueprints, specifications, diagrams or schematics to determine appropriate welding process. Inspects completed welds to determine structural soundness. Familiar with and complies with all safety requirements (PPE) and protocols for working in a hazardous environment. Requirements • MIG Welding of steel (casings, pistons, fabricating pit channels, power units, etc.) • Weld components using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment in various positions (vertical, horizontal or overhead) • Read blueprints and drawings and take or read measurements to plan layout and procedures • Determine the appropriate welding equipment or method based on requirements • Set up components for welding according to specifications (e.g. cut material with powered saws to match measurements) • Align components using calipers, rulers etc. and clamp pieces • Repair machinery and other components by welding pieces and filling gaps • Test and inspect welded surfaces and structure to discover flaws • Work safely • Use powered saws, drill press, hand shears, and/or chipping hammer when necessary • Use portable grinder, hand file, and/or scraper when necessary • Use precision measuring tools to inspect grooves and angles • Maintain proper equipment; repair when needed • Produce templates and other work aids • Operate forklifts, overhead crane and pallet movers to move materials and products (training provided) • Maintain raw material and product identification to insure traceability • Maintain work area in a neat and orderly condition. • Other duties as assigned Qualifications and Required Skills • High school diploma or GED • Minimum of 1 year MIG welding experience • Must be able to pass and maintain CWB Certification • Pipefitting experience • Mechanical and mathematical aptitude • Ability to interpret mechanical drawings • Ability to use a variety of hand and power tools • Ability to use precision measuring equipment • Ability to read and use a tape measure • Ability to lift 50 lbs. unassisted (100 lbs. assisted) • Familiarity with OSHA industrial standards • Ability and willingness to learn • Experience with crane and forklift operations • Experience with rigging and use of lifting devices • Basic computer literacy • Statistical process control training • Ability to work as an individual and as a team • Attention to detail, accuracy, and quality • Reliable and highly motivated • Ability and desire to cross-train as back-up in other areas of the manufacturing plant Due to the high number of applications we receive, we're not able to follow up with everyone individually.
