Welder - Madison Plant

SUMMARY: EK is looking for a full-time Welder ready to work hard and build their welding experience with our team. We need a Welder that can weld on a wide variety of metals and alloys plus navigate blueprints and directions successfully. Who is ready to take their welding skills to the next level? ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: • Schedule is Monday through Thursday, 5:00AM - 3:00PM. Plus overtime as needed. • Successfully reading and understanding American and European blueprints, geometrical call outs, and weld symbols to meet or exceed client expectations. • Using (GMAW) (MIG) to effectively weld weldments, tanks, and metal parts together per the weld process specification sheet. • We perform welding on a wide variety of metals including carbon steel. • Independently use hand layouts for weldments based on blueprints or specifications, with little to no supervision required. • Using fixtures and jigs to manufacture welded parts to customer specifications. • Assist or assisting with creating work instructions. • Completing the first piece, in process, and final inspections using calipers, height gauges, protractors, and tape measures. • Pressure testing fuel tanks and hydro testing glycol tanks. • Minimal traveling between plants and adapting to the product mix requirements at each facility. • Analyzing weld processes and recommending process improvements. REQUIREMENTS: • Proficient in MIG, (TIG, depending on company needs). • Demonstrates ability to weld in multiple positions (flat, horizontal) • Understands and adjusts weld machine settings for material type/thickness. • Can fabricate parts independently using jigs, gauges, and fixtures. • Inspects welds visually and understands basic quality standards (e.g., porosity, undercut). • Required certification or ability to pass weld qualification tests. EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: 1–2-year Technical Welding Degree and 1 to 2 years of experience in related welding industry (GMAW-P, GMAW-S, and GTAW) preferred. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIROMENT: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Residency Requirements: Job Summary This is a traveling role that involves regular travel throughout the state of Wisconsin to support and learn about various generation plants, including coal, gas, combustion turbine, solar, wind, and battery generation facilities. This role performs varied mechanical, basic electrical and basic control and instrument maintenance activities and other duties necessary to maintain the generation facility to which they are assigned. What You Will Do • Performs the mechanical and basic electrical and basic instrument and control troubleshooting, maintaining, repairing, cleaning, inspecting and constructing of equipment and systems for the generation facility. • Operates and/or obtains information from various mechanical and electrical devices used to support specific equipment diagnostics or work activities; gathers, interprets and logs data. • Is proficient in the use of machine tools and various hand powered tools as job needs dictate. • Operates mobile and heavy equipment to perform maintenance tasks. • Performs various welding activities. • Supports safety, plant reliability, productivity, and plant efficiency improvements by participating in various continuous improvement activities. • Performs all work according to established procedures and safety practices. • Performs various generating plant and shop area housekeeping functions. • Performs other duties which are similar, related, or incidental to this position. Education Requirements • High school diploma or GED Required Experience • Journey level in the mechanical trade Other Requirements • Must possess a valid driver’s license. Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities • Demonstrated ability to solve problems. • Well developed skills in machining. • Knowledge of theory and skill in welding. • Knowledge of company safety rules. • High degree of mechanical and/or electrical aptitude. • Strong leadership ability. • Ability to perform the physical requirements of the job. • Ability to work effectively in a culturally diverse work environment.
