RMD Pipe Welder Journeyman at TIC - The Industrial Company in Greenville, Mississippi, United States Job Description Requisition ID: 173761 Position Summary Plan, lay-out, weld, install, test and repair all types of pipe and similar tubular products in accordance with applicable plans, specifications, welding codes and industry standards Experience Level Skilled Primary Responsibilities and Duties - Plan, diagram and lay-out for pipe welder's work - Coordinate with field labor crew for efficient installations - Position the weld set up, fit the piping and perform welds involving a high degree of precision independently - Lay-out, and assemble pipes accurately and according to production standards, quality requirements, safety requirements, code, design, and specifications - Make welding repairs and substandard welds - Assist with coordination of any Pre-Fabrication layout or installation - Assist with rigging of material - Operate air arc gouger, grinder, stress relieving machine, and other industry machines, tools and equipment - Estimating sizes, distances, and quantities; or determining time, costs, resources, or materials needed to perform a work activity. - Inspect subordinate's work for compliance with the contract plans and specifications, point out deficiencies and explain and take any corrective action needed. Job Profile The company is searching for a Machine Operator who will operate and maintain Hel-Cor mill equipment that forms to produce corrugated metal pipe. Educational Qualification • Not mentioned, yet a High School Diploma will be a plus Work Experience • No specific prior experience is required (training will be provided) Duties/Responsibilities • Butt welds and grinds strip ends manually. • Checks and maintains mill mechanical operation to Original Equipment Specification on all mill equipment components, to comply with corporate CPS-TPM initiatives. • Lubricates the machine periodically per CPS-TPM policy and guidelines. • Observes threading of strip through mill processes and progressively adjusts tooling and associated mechanicals as required with minimal scrap/waste. • Operates mill components using manual and automatic controls on the control panel. • Operates overhead cranes, coil handlers, or forklifts to move coil from storage area to machine. • Performs and records all QA check measurements required by the Quality Manual on the product being produced. • Performs equipment/tooling setup and changeover required on mill equipment that includes diameters, gages, pipe lengths, and corrugations. • Performs routine mechanical maintenance and repairs to all mill process equipment. • Produce quality products to meet output cost standards. If output cost standards are not achieved, provide the root causes of mill process inefficiency to the plant manager for corrective action. • Receives instructions and assignments from plant supervision as required. • Records production and keeps work area clean. • Threads the incoming coils through mill processes. • Uses a cutting torch or plasma to remove the strip and start-up pipe from the mill and forming head. • Performs other related work as directed by plant supervision.
