The role of a Steel Pipe/Rig Welder classification requires the skill sets and abilities to work in many facets of our industry under API 1104 standards and procedures. This position is responsible for all duties related to the safe, efficient, and cost-effective welding, installation and maintenance of natural gas distribution systems as outlined below : • Installs new steel gas mains and services using tools such as a welding machine, cutting torches. • Assemble and secure pipes, tubes, fittings, and related equipment, according to specifications, by welding, brazing, soldering. • Inspect, examine, and test installed systems and pipe lines, using pressure gauge, observation, or other methods. • Performs welding, brazing and metal cutting tasks on pipeline, pipeline fittings, welds machinery and equipment. • Install, repair, maintain, weld, fabricate and upgrade gas distribution piping. • Perform welding using various weld processes. • Measure and mark pipes for cutting and threading. • Layout of pipe, supports, and related equipment, following blueprints. • Maintain tools and equipment. • Reads, studies and interprets layout, blueprints, job specifications and welding procedures to determine work requirements. • Prepare reports and conduct inspections as required. • Comply with both the Client and NuLine Utility Services safety standards and procedures. • Performs various fitting, welding, finishing, grinding and related operations to assemble and fabricate various structural units. • Installs new steel gas mains and services using tools such as a welding machine, cutting torches. • Determine required equipment and welding methods, applying knowledge of metallurgy, geometry, and welding techniques. • Performs in any job specific duties requested by supervision outside of welding, when applicable. • Welding duties will be intermittent on jobsites; therefore, other field activities will need to be performed when not performing in a welding role. Qualifications: • Valid driver’s license • Optional but preferred: CDL class “A” driver’s license • Completion of Customer Weld Testing/Certifications up through 12” diameter pipe, as required. API 1104 standards. • Maintain a clean driving record. • Personal welding Rig (truck and equipment) is preferred and will determine pay. • Ability to read and understand maps, drawings and diagrams for project build process. • Willing to work outdoors in all types of weather and work overtime as required. • Must meet all required gas system Operator Qualifications (OQ) as defined for this position and pass initial welding test. •Understand and adhere to Company's safety rules, policies, and procedures. • Understand Code of Federal Regulations 49, Dept. of Transportation Office of Pipeline Safety regulations as they apply to this position. About the Role: As a Welder at our manufacturing facility in Louisiana, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality and safety of our products. You will be responsible for welding and fabricating metal components, interpreting blueprints and schematics, and performing quality control checks. Your work will directly impact the efficiency and effectiveness of our production processes, and ultimately contribute to the success of our company. We have openings on our first and second shifts. First Shift: Monday-Friday 5am-1pm Minimum Qualifications: • High school diploma or equivalent • 5 years of experience in welding and fabrication • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics • Knowledge of welding techniques and equipment • Strong attention to detail and quality Preferred Qualifications: • Certification in welding • Experience with MIG, TIG, and stick welding • Experience with CNC plasma cutting • Experience with metal forming and bending • Experience with welding stainless steel and aluminum Responsibilities: • Performing welding and fabrication of metal components according to blueprints and schematics • Operating and maintaining welding equipment and tools • Performing quality control checks to ensure products meet specifications • Collaborating with other team members to troubleshoot and problem-solve • Maintaining a safe and clean work environment Skills: As a Welder, you will utilize your expertise in welding and fabrication techniques to produce high-quality metal components. You will need to have a strong attention to detail and the ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics. Additionally, you will collaborate with other team members to troubleshoot and problem-solve, and maintain a safe and clean work environment. Your skills in MIG, TIG, and stick welding, CNC plasma cutting, and metal forming and bending will be utilized on a daily basis.
